However that didn't last long. After showering and making herself a small meal, Yujin retreated to the sanctuary of her bedroom- hearing her parents arrive home soon after as she began to study.

The dim light of her desk lamp barely illuminated the bedroom as Yujin sat hunched over her textbook- her eyes skimming the words, but nothing registered as the back of her eyes burned with exhaustion.

Through the thin walls, she could hear her parents arguing, acting as constant background noise that she had learned to tune out.

Her parents had never argued in front of her, they made that very clear, but sometimes that almost felt worse.
Instead, she was left a prisoner to her bedroom as she waited for them to finish their argument- unable to go to the kitchen or bathroom without them standing in absolute silence waiting for their daughter to enter her room again.

But she saw the stress on their faces, the exhaustion in their voices as she attempted small talk.
It felt suffocating. Their expectations laying thick on their faces and pressing down on her already stiff shoulders.

She had to do well. Had to make all this worth something.

Exhaling, Yujin leant back on her chair and pressed her palms into her eyes, the sting behind them alleviating ever so slightly.

The room felt too small, the air too thick, and if it weren't for her parents being in the room next to her, she would've went for a walk.
But she didn't want to disappoint them. So she stayed.

Leaning her head back, her eyes drifted to the neatly folded jacket that lay on her beside table.

Her stomach churning with something unfamiliar as she glanced at Renjuns jacket.

She had planned to give it back on Monday, and then on Tuesday, and then today, but for some reason she kept on hesitating.

It wasn't like she needed it anymore, she knew she had to give it back- but there felt like something holding her back from just shoving it into her bag and handing it to him like it was nothing.

Because somehow, someway, it didn't feel like nothing.

They weren't friends, they were acquaintances, rivals. They didn't do that stuff. They didn't notice when the other was cold and drape jackets over the other.

They bickered and competed and they weren't friends.

Yujin sighed, dragging her hand through her damp hair, reaching to grab the jacket and placing it on top of her books in front of her.

He's really not what you think he is.

Jaemins voice reverberated through her mind and she tugged at her lip.

Maybe he was that type of person. Helping Jaemin, offering his jacket.

A loud bang of the front door echoed through the girls room and making her look up abruptly with wide eyes.

The weird sensation that churned within her as she stared at Renjuns jacket turned into a knot of anxiety as she listened to her mother start angrily washing dishes before huffing in annoyance a few seconds later and storming off to her room.

The girls eyes flicked back to the jacket, her jaw clenching before she dropped the jacket into her open school bag behind her and turned back to her school work.

The fact never changed.

Renjun might not be who she thinks he is. But he was still the one in her way to making her parents happy. To stopping their arguments.

Sorry for the late chapter, I had a rough couple of days 😅😅
