The end of the lesson neared and Yujin couldn't keep her eyes off of the clock. The second hand inched closer and closer to 10:30, and she subtly started to pull her books together, preparing to make a quit exit to her next class.
Moments later the bell rang and Yujin began shoving her books into her bag, making to leave but was stopped by a body standing next to her desk.
How is he that fast?
"Looks like we are teammates," Renjun said, his hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans. His tone was light, but she could sense the slight smugness to it and she sighed, not looking up to him as she made to stand.
"I guess so," Yujin muttered, slinging her bag over her shoulders, and finally tilting her head up to look at the taller boy. "I suppose," she bit the inside of her cheek, her stomach bubbling with annoyance. "We should exchange numbers."
Renjun raised his eyebrows, lips curling up into a surprised smile. "Didn't think you wanted my number that bad."
Yujin rolled her eyes. "Sure," she deadpanned, her tone laced with annoyance. "Just give me your phone."
Renjun reached into his pocket and handed her the phone. His lips pulled up into a grin as he watched as she quickly typed in her number.
Handing back his phone, she narrowed her eyes. "And don't bother asking me for the answers to our homework."
Renjun scoffed a chuckle, slipping the phone back into his pocket. "Wouldn't dream about it. But maybe I should be the one telling you that."
Yujin huffed, sending him a glare before turning sharply on her heels. "Message me," she gave him a sidelong stare before walking away.
As she made her way down the hall, her mind began to race. A whole semester. Just her and him.
Miss Choi obviously did this on purpose. She knew they were rivals and that they were both super competitive.
What exactly was she trying to achieve by pairing them up?
If only I was partnered with Park Jungho instead.

Sprawled across her bed, Yujin had begun to read her Korean literature book that had been assigned on Wednesday- 100 Degrees Celsius.
The room was dimly lit, her bedside lamp casting a faint glow across the worn pages of the used book. She was completely absorbed into her book, not taking her eyes off of the pages even as she reached over every now and then to the ball of grapes beside her.
The vibration of her phone tore her attention away from her book, she groaned as she stretched forward to grab her phone off of her bedside table. Her fingers barely reaching it as she tried to pull it forward, inching it closer to her before she could grab it and unlock the screen.
