Chapter 6

“What do you want Ashley?” I asked, looking at her with the most bored expression.

“I saw you with Gerard.” She smiled obviously pretending to be the nicest girl in school. Then she got closer to me and grabbed my arm strongly. “But you see the thing is that Gerard is mine. And I don’t want my boyfriend to hook up with someone who’s not me, specially a loser like you.”

“I’m sorry to inform you, Ashley, but I don’t think Gerard has the same opinion as you do.” I gave her the biggest smile with a big dose of sarcasm. “In fact, he found a new girl.” Ashley laughed and her followers did the same.

“Oh, and the girl you’re talking about would be you?”

“Why not?” She laughed even more and took a mirror of her bag looking at her reflection.

“Oh, Miller, Miller… Do I must tell you everything? Our school has a hierarchy: cheerleaders and football players at the top. Other athletes, stylish girls and band members at second. Then, we have the people from the photography club, drama club, and so. There are the Goths, punks, skaters, etc. The science, math and chess club geeks. Finally, we have everyone else who doesn’t fit these groups. And bellow all those people, there’s you. Juliet Miller, the school loser. And Gerard would never like the school loser.” She was right. “The most likely thing is that he’s just mocking you.” Once again, she was right. How could I be so stupid?! Gerard would never like a girl like me…

“He must be laughing at your idiot face, right now. Poor Miller, falling at the hot guy’s trap. And she doesn’t even have a clue. How stupid you are!” At that moment, I didn’t know what the hell was on my mind. I just looked at Ashley and punched her in the nose. That’s right, I punched her!

She started to bleed out of her nose. I heard her loud scream. Uh-oh, I had enraged the beast.

“You’re going to pay for this, Miller!” And then she pushed me and started to hit me. A big circle of people formed around us and everyone started to yell “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

And we fought. I didn’t know why but I started to hit her hard. I punched her and scratch her face with rage. I couldn’t believe she had said so many bad things about me. Actually I could, I just didn’t want to believe she had humiliated me in front of the whole school.

“Take off what you just said!” I yelled slapping her.

“No! You’re a loser and nobody likes you, get used to it!” And I slapped her again and again.

“Stop it!” I heard someone say but I didn’t know who. I didn’t ever know who I was on that moment. “Juliet, stop it immediately!” The school principal grabbed me taking me away from Ashley. She looked at me mad. “I want you in my office right now.” Then she did the same with Ashley and there we went heading to her office.

“What happened outside was unacceptable!”

“But Miss Reese, she was the one who started it!” The blonde spoke with the most annoying crying voice in the world and I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t want to know who started it or why. I just don’t want it to be repeated! Do you understand that?”

“Yes, Miss Reese.”

“I’m not going to punish you because this is the first time but if I ever see you two fighting again you can expect a big punishment!”

“Yes, Miss Reese.”

“Now, you can go to your classes except you Juliet, I want to talk to you.” What?!

Ashley stood up and I saw her leaving the room with a big victory smile. I hated her so much.

“Juliet, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. I never saw you acting like this.”

“I’m sorry, Miss Reese. I just got tired of listening to Ashley’s critics.”

“I know she can be a bit annoying, but you are my best student and I don’t want to put this in your record.”

“It won’t happen again.”

“I hope not. You can go now.” She smiled at me and I did the same leaving the room. I didn’t know what had happened. I couldn’t believe I got so upset about Gerard. Ashley was right, he would never like a girl like me. He was probably mocking me and I was so naïve I couldn’t even see it! Miller, you’re so stupid!

“Juliet!” The last person I wanted to see called me and I pretended not to hear it. “Juliet, wait!”

“What do you want, Gerard?!” I turned around and saw him standing there with a worried face.

“What happened with Ashley?”

“I don’t know. She’s your girlfriend, ask her.”

“My girlfriend? Since when?!”

“Since she told me. Oh and by the way, if you want to play I advise you to play with someone else because my life is already a disaster and I don’t need a player to ruin it more.”

“What are you talking about?” He looked at me confused and I laughed. The same face every guys used to cover their plans.

“Oh, seriously? You’re really going to pretend you weren’t playing with my heart? C’mon Gerard, I’m not a kid! I know you just want me to play. Where in the world, would a hot guy like a loser like me? I’m a nerd! But now it’s over, I’m not going to let you mess with my heart. Goodbye, Gerard Way.”

I told you that was going to be a long day.
