It had been days since Scoups last saw Y/N. He had given her space, respected her boundaries, but the distance between them felt unbearable.

The quiet nights, the empty moments—they all pointed back to one thing. Her.

Scoups spent his time thinking, reflecting on everything he had done wrong. But it wasn’t enough. He needed more. He needed her to see that he was trying.

But even as his determination grew, so did the fear that he might have lost her for good.

Meanwhile, Y/N was torn.

Mixed Emotion...

On the surface, it was easier to stay distant, to let Scoups carry the burden of their fractured relationship. But deep down, her heart couldn’t ignore the pull she still felt toward him. Despite everything, despite the hurt, part of her still longed for the person she had known.

She found herself replaying their moments together—his smile, the way he used to make her laugh, the quiet moments when they didn’t need words. It was easy to fall into those memories. But then the reality of what had happened would crash back in and she would push the thoughts away.

But it didn’t stop there.

The moment she stepped into campus each day, the sight of Scoups—standing there, always within her peripheral vision—reminded her of everything she had lost and everything she was trying to protect herself from.

And yet, there were times when her heart would race whenever their paths crossed, when the simple act of his presence was enough to set her nerves on edge.

She hated that she couldn’t shake it.

One afternoon, Y/N sat in the campus café, her mind wandering. She was studying for an upcoming test but she could barely focus. The bustling noise of the cafe faded as her thoughts drifted back to Scoups.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over her table. She looked up, startled.

“Mind if I sit?”

It was Scoups. He was standing there, looking unsure but determined. His expression had softened since the last time they spoke and it felt like a lifetime ago.

Y/N sighed, glancing down at her notes, debating whether to say anything or pretend he wasn’t there.

“You don’t have to do this” she said quietly, not looking up. “You don’t have to keep trying, Scoups.”

His heart sank but he couldn’t back down. Not now.

“I do” he said firmly, sitting across from her. “Because I can’t lose you. Not without trying everything.”

Y/N looked up then, her eyes meeting his for the first time in what felt like forever. “I’m not some prize to win back, Scoups. You can’t just keep showing up and think that will fix everything.”

Scoups nodded, swallowing hard. “I know. I know I can’t just fix it with a few words. But I’m here because I want to make things right. I want to prove to you that I can be who you need me to be.”

Y/N stared at him, her expression unreadable. “I don’t know if I can believe that anymore.”

The weight of her words hit him like a punch in the gut.

“I’m not asking for your trust right now” he said, his voice quiet but sincere. “I’m asking for the chance to earn it again. I’ll do whatever it takes, Y/N.”
