Since their school days, Y/N has harbored feelings for Scoups, the popular yet cold and distant boy. Despite every heartfelt confession, Scoups repeatedly rejects her-sometimes harshly. But no matter how cold his words are, Y/N remains blinded by he...
The library was quiet except for the soft rustle of papers and the faint hum of air conditioning. Y/N sat at a corner table, her head buried in her notes. Her focus was sharp, her pencil moving swiftly across the page. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t ignore the subtle shift in her project partner’s behavior lately.
“Hey” Scoups’s voice cut through her thoughts. He was standing across from her, holding a stack of printed articles. “I found these for the research section. Thought they might help.”
Y/N looked up briefly, her gaze flickering to the papers before nodding curtly. “Thanks. Just leave them there.”
He did as she said but lingered for a moment, his hands shoved in his pockets. “If you need help with anything… just let me know” he said softly.
“I’ll manage” she replied without looking up, her tone cold but not harsh.
Scoups sighed inwardly, taking a seat across from her. He wanted to say more, to break through the walls she had built so carefully. But he knew better than to push her too soon.
An Unwanted Spotlight
During their next class presentation, Y/N stood at the front of the room, her voice steady as she explained their findings. Scoups stood beside her, supporting her points when necessary.
The presentation went smoothly until a classmate muttered something under his breath—something unkind that made a few people snicker.
Y/N pretended not to hear, her grip tightening on the papers in her hands. But before she could brush it off, Scoups stepped forward, his voice sharp and unwavering.
“Is there a problem?” he asked, fixing the student with a hard stare. The room fell silent instantly.
The student mumbled a quick “no” before looking away, clearly intimidated.
“Good” Scoups said, his tone calm but firm. He glanced at Y/N, his expression softening. “You were saying?”
Y/N hesitated before continuing, her voice a little steadier this time.
After class, she caught up to him in the hallway. “You didn’t have to do that,” she said quietly.
“I know” Scoups replied, his gaze meeting hers. “But I wanted to.”
She didn’t respond, but the sincerity in his voice lingered in her mind longer than she wanted to admit.

A few days later, the class had a team-building exercise in the gym. Y/N heart sank when the instructor called out her name alongside Scoups.
“Let’s make this quick” she muttered, walking toward him.
“Sure” Scoups replied, a small, uncertain smile tugging at his lips.
The first task was a trust fall. Y/N stood stiffly, her arms crossed as she glanced over her shoulder at him. “You better not drop me.”
Scoups chuckled softly. “I won’t. Promise.”
When she finally fell back, his hands caught her securely, his grip firm but gentle. For a brief moment, the world seemed to pause. Y/Ns heart raced as she quickly stepped forward, brushing herself off.
“See? Told you I wouldn’t drop you” Scoups said, his tone light but meaningful.
She glanced at him, unsure how to respond. “Thanks” she muttered before walking away.
That evening, Y/N sat at her desk, staring at her project notes. No matter how hard she tried, her thoughts kept drifting back to the trust fall, to the way Scoups had caught her so effortlessly.
Why was he being like this? Why now, after everything?
Meanwhile, Scoups lay on his bed, staring at his phone. He wanted to message her, to explain himself but he knew words weren’t enough.
Instead, he made a silent vow..I’ll show her. I’ll show her I’ve changed.
The following week, Scoups actions spoke louder than any apology he could offer. He stayed late after their sessions to help with extra research, carried her books without being asked, and even brought her favorite snacks to meetings.
At first, Y/N remained distant, wary of his motives. But little by little, she began to notice the sincerity in his efforts. He wasn’t doing it to win her over or to prove a point. He was just… trying.
One afternoon, as they wrapped up a library session, Scoups broke the silence.
“Y/N” he said, his tone serious.
She looked up from her notes. “What?”
“I know I’ve messed up” he began, his gaze steady. “And I know you don’t trust me right now. But I’m not giving up. Not on this project, and not on making things right with you.”
Her chest tightened at his words, but she refused to let it show. “Actions speak louder than words, Scoups,” she said, standing to leave. “Let’s see if you mean it.”
Later that week, as Y/N walked out of the library alone, she found Scoups waiting by the entrance. He held out a cup of iced Americano, his expression slightly nervous.
“For you” he said simply.
Y/N stared at the cup, her defenses wavering. “Why?”
“Because I know you’ve been working hard” he replied. “And because I want to.”
She hesitated before taking it, her fingers brushing his briefly. “Thanks.”
As she walked away, Scoups watched her go, a small smile playing on his lips.
It wasn’t much, but it was a start.
