Y/N noticed the changes but remained cautious, her walls still firmly in place.

One afternoon, as they wrapped up another session in the library, Scoups broke the silence.

“Y/N” he said, his tone serious.

She looked up from her notes. “What?”

“I know you’re still upset with me. And I don’t expect you to forgive me right away. But… I want you to know I’m not giving up.”

Y/N gaze softened for a brief moment before she closed her notebook. “Good. Because actions speak louder than words, Scoups”

The days that followed were busy for Y/N. If she wasn’t at the library finishing assignments, she was with Yeri or other friends, purposefully avoiding any interactions with Scoups. Whenever he tried to approach her, she always found a way to keep her distance.

“You’re avoiding him, aren’t you?” Yeri whispered as they walked to the cafeteria.

“I’m not avoiding anyone. I just… have other priorities right now” Y/N replied calmly, though her gaze intentionally avoided the far corner where Scoups sat with his friends.

Yeri raised an eyebrow. “Sure. But you know he’s trying, right?”

“I know” Y/N admitted. “But I can’t let him get close again, Yeri. If I do, I’m just setting myself up to get hurt.”

Yeri placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, a small smile on her face. “As long as you’re sure about this. But don’t forget to think about your own heart too.”

Y/N smiled faintly, though deep down, Yeri’s words left her feeling slightly conflicted.

In class, Scoups sat behind Y/N as usual, but gone were the days when he would tease her or crack jokes to get her attention. Instead, he kept his actions subtle, offering quiet gestures of help.

“Y/N, you left your pen behind earlier” Scoups said, placing her blue pen on her desk before she even realized it was missing.

“Oh… thanks” Y/N replied, her tone neutral as she quickly focused back on her notes.

Scoups bit his lip, trying to mask his disappointment. Even though Y/N wasn’t showing any sign of opening up, he was determined to keep trying.

That day after class, Scoups found the courage to call out to her.

“Y/N, wait up” he said, walking quickly toward her as she neared the door.

Y/N paused, though she didn’t turn around. “What is it?”

“Are you okay?” His question was simple, but his tone carried genuine concern.

Y/N finally turned to face him, her expression unreadable. “I’m fine. Why?”

Scoups shrugged, trying to appear casual. “Just wanted to make sure you’re not feeling overwhelmed by the project.”

“The project’s fine. Don’t worry about it” Y/N replied curtly before walking away, leaving Scoups standing there with a mix of frustration and determination.

During one of their project sessions in the library, Y/N stayed focused on her work, maintaining the silence that had become normal between them. But this time, Scoups decided to break it.

“Y/N” he called softly.

She looked up, waiting for him to continue.

“I know you’re uncomfortable around me. I know I messed up, and I don’t expect you to forgive me right away. But I just want you to know that I’m trying. And I’m not going to stop trying” he said, his voice steady but sincere.

Y/N took a deep breath, her expression unreadable. “I can see that, Scoups. But this isn’t just about you. I need space for myself.”

Scoups nodded, though the heaviness in his chest was evident. “I understand. But I’ll still be here… whenever you need anything.”

Y/N gave him a small nod before returning to her work.

The next day, as Y/N opened her desk drawer in class, she found a small note tucked inside with a bottle of water.

“Don’t forget to take care of yourself. – Scoups”

Y/N furrowed her brows, scanning the room. Scoups was sitting with Mingyu and Joshua, chatting casually without sparing her a glance.

Yeri, who noticed the interaction, leaned closer to Y/N with a mischievous grin. “You’re smiling.”

“I’m not smiling” Y/N shot back, slipping the note into her bag quickly.

“But you’re not throwing it away either” Yeri teased, laughing softly.

Y/N shook her head, refusing to engage further. She wouldn’t admit it, but there was something about Scoups’ small gestures that tugged at her heart.
