Since their school days, Y/N has harbored feelings for Scoups, the popular yet cold and distant boy. Despite every heartfelt confession, Scoups repeatedly rejects her-sometimes harshly. But no matter how cold his words are, Y/N remains blinded by he...
“With trying so hard for people who don’t try for me” Y/N said, her voice steady.
Yeri smiled softly. “Good. But you know… it’s okay to still care. Just don’t lose yourself in it.”
Y/N nodded, her resolve firm. “I won’t.”

The next day, the class had a badminton match scheduled as part of their inter-class sports activities.
“Today’s match will determine which class gets to represent the seniors in the school tournament” the coach announced.
The gym buzzed with excitement as students paired up for the doubles matches.
“Alright, next up—Scoups and Y/N versus Mingyu and Yeri” the coach called out.
Scoups froze, his racket slipping slightly in his hand.
Y/N stood from the bench, her expression neutral as she walked to the court. She didn’t look at him, her focus entirely on the game.
As the match began, the tension between them was palpable. Scoups tried to communicate, “Go left! I’ve got this one—”
“I know” Y/N cut him off, intercepting the shuttlecock with a clean smash.
Mingyu and Yeri exchanged glances, sensing the awkward dynamic but choosing not to comment.
When the game ended with a narrow win for Y/N and Scoups, Y/N simply nodded to the coach and walked off the court.
“Good game” Mingyu said, stopping Scoups before he could follow her.
Scoups exhaled sharply. “Yeah. Thanks.”
Later that day, Scoups found himself walking near the school garden when he spotted Y/N sitting under a tree, flipping through her notes.
He hesitated before approaching.
“Y/N” he called softly.
She looked up, her expression unreadable. “What is it?”
He shifted awkwardly. “About earlier… I wasn’t being a good partner during the match. Sorry.”
Y/N tilted her head slightly, as if surprised by the apology. “It’s fine. We won, didn’t we?”
“But that’s not the point” Scoups said, his voice firm. “I’ve been… I’ve been a jerk to you. For a while now.”
Y/N’s expression softened for a moment before she stood, brushing off her skirt. “Apology accepted. But I think we should focus on finishing our project.”
Scoups frowned. “That’s it?”
“What else do you want me to say, Scoups?” Y/N said, her tone tired. “You already made it clear where we stand.”
Before he could respond, she walked past him, leaving him standing alone under the tree.
Late Night Reflection
That night, Scoups sat on the basketball court, his thoughts a whirlwind.
Joshua joined him, tossing a ball onto the court. “You’re thinking too much.”
“Am I supposed to not care?” Scoups snapped.
Jun chuckled. “No. But maybe stop thinking and start doing.”
“What if it’s too late?”
“It’s only too late if you give up,” Joshua replied. “But you’ve got to do more than just apologize.”
Scoups stared at the ball, his resolve hardening.

The following week, Y/N and Scoups continued working on their project. Slowly, Scoups began making an effort—bringing her snacks during their sessions, offering to take on more of the workload, and even asking for her opinion on parts of the project.
Y/N noticed the change but kept her guard up, her interactions with him polite but distant.
One afternoon, after a particularly productive session, Scoups stopped her as she was leaving.
“Y/N… can we talk?” he asked.
She hesitated before nodding. “About what?”
He took a deep breath. “About us. About everything.”
Y/Ns eyes flickered with emotion, but she quickly masked it. “I don’t think there’s much to say, Scoups.”
