Since their school days, Y/N has harbored feelings for Scoups, the popular yet cold and distant boy. Despite every heartfelt confession, Scoups repeatedly rejects her-sometimes harshly. But no matter how cold his words are, Y/N remains blinded by he...
Y/N and Yeri stood by the bulletin board, reading the flyer.
"This could be fun" Yeri said. "We should join!"
Y/N hesitated. "I’m not great at badminton, though."
"Doesn’t matter" Yeri said with a grin. "We’ll find teammates who can carry us."
As they walked away, they passed by Mingyu and Joshua, who were reading the same flyer.
"Are you signing up?" Mingyu asked casually.
Yeri nodded. "Thinking about it. You?"
Mingyu smirked. "Of course. Scoups might, too."
At the mention of his name, Y/Ns expression remained neutral.
"Well, good luck" she said simply, walking ahead with Yeri.
Mingyu watched her go, then turned to Joshua. "She’s really not the same around him anymore, huh?"
Joshua nodded. "And maybe that’s exactly what Scoups needs to wake up."
Badminton Tournament Day
The gym buzzed with excitement as students gathered for the tournament. Teams huddled together, strategizing and warming up.
Y/N and Yeri stood with their teammates, a mix of juniors and seniors. Y/N adjusted her racket nervously.
"You’ll do great" Yeri assured her.
Across the gym, Scoups stood with Mingyu and Joshua. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on Y/N, who was laughing at something Yeri said.
"Focus, Scoups" Mingyu said, nudging him. "We have a match to win."
Scoups nodded but couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling growing in his chest.
As the matches progressed, Y/N’s team made it to the semifinals, surprising everyone—including themselves.
During a break, Y/N leaned against the wall, catching her breath.
"Not bad for someone who said they weren’t good at badminton" Yeri teased.
Y/N laughed. "Beginner’s luck, I guess."
Their next match was against Scoups’ team.
As they took their positions, Y/N avoided Scoups’ gaze, focusing instead on the game.
The match was intense, with both sides giving it their all. Y/N surprised herself with how well she played, but Scoups’ team ultimately won by a narrow margin.
After the game, Y/N extended her hand toward Scoups. "Good game."
Scoups hesitated, then shook her hand. "Yeah… good game."
For a moment, their eyes met, but Y/N’s expression was calm and unreadable.
As she walked away with Yeri, Scoups felt a pang of regret.
Late Night Regret
That night, Scoups sat alone in his room, staring at the photo from the summer camp on his phone.
It was a group picture, with everyone smiling brightly. Y/N stood in the front, her grin radiant as always.
But now, that brightness felt so far away.
Scoups sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I messed up."
The memory of Y/N’s laughter and persistence played in his mind, now replaced by her quiet indifference.
He couldn’t ignore the hollow ache in his chest anymore.
For the first time, Scoups realized he might have lost something irreplaceable.
