Campfire Night
As the sun set, students gathered around a large campfire, the warm glow illuminating their faces. Teachers handed out marshmallows and skewers and soft guitar music played in the background.
Y/N sat cross legged on a log, stealing glances at Scoups, who was a few spots away, talking with Mingyu and Jun.
Yeri nudged her. "Are you going to give him one of your specially wrapped marshmallows or not?"
Y/N held up a stick with two perfectly toasted marshmallows. "Do you think he'll eat them?"
"There's only one way to find out," Yeri said with a wink.
Gathering her courage, Y/N stood up and walked over to Scoups.
"Hey, Seungcheol-ie! Want some marshmallows?"
Scoups paused, glancing at the stick she held out. "I'm fine."
Y/N smile dimmed slightly, but she quickly bounced back. "Come on! They're perfectly toasted. No excuses this time."
Jun elbowed Scoups lightly. "Dude, just take them."
With a sigh, Scoups took the marshmallows. "Thanks."
Y/N grinned and gave him a playful salute. "Enjoy!"
As she walked back to Yeri, Jun leaned toward Scoups. "You know she's really trying, right?"
Scoups didn't respond, but he took a small bite of the marshmallow, his eyes flickering toward Y/N retreating figure.
That night, the camp was quiet except for the distant chirping of crickets. Y/N couldn't sleep. She unzipped the tent and stepped outside, taking in the cool night air.
To her surprise, she spotted Scoups sitting on a nearby bench, staring up at the stars.
She hesitated but eventually walked over. "Couldn't sleep either?"
Scoups glanced at her before looking back at the sky. "Yeah."
Y/N sat down a few feet away from him, hugging her knees to her chest.
"The stars are beautiful, aren't they?" Y/N said softly.
Scoups didn't reply immediately, but after a moment, he spoke. "You're... persistent, Y/N."
Y/N blinked, caught off guard. "Is that a bad thing?"
"No" he said quietly. "But... sometimes it feels exhausting. Like you're trying so hard to reach something that might not be there."
Y/N's smile wavered. She looked down at her hands. "I just... I want you to know someone cares, even if you don't want it."
Scoups was silent, his gaze fixed on the stars.
After a moment, Y/N stood up, brushing dirt off her pajama pants. "Goodnight, Scoups. Sleep well."
She walked back to her tent, leaving Scoups sitting there under the vast sky.
As Y/N zipped up her tent, Scoups voice echoed softly in her mind.
"Sometimes it feels exhausting..."
But despite the ache in her chest, Y/N closed her eyes with a small smile.
Because no matter how hard it felt, she wasn't ready to stop trying yet.
