            “For what?”

Jasmine shrugged. “I don’t know yet.”

Giselle followed thinking of the talk her and Jonah had wondering if it was too harsh. She quickly cancelled out the thoughts when she spotted Isaac at the entrance of the main hall. As usual he looked like a million bucks with a white button up, tie and slacks. She just didn’t know the occasion.

His eyes met hers, icy blue and radiant. She smiled at him and he nodded as if to say hello. Jasmine glanced at Giselle and giggled. “How cute.”

In moments they were walking into the main hall, Isaac behind them walking gracefully as usual. Giselle’s arm was laced through Jasmine’s like the good friends they were. Walking side by side helped Giselle keep her mind off the situation with Jonah and helped her recognize that she had other friends besides him.

The main hall was packed with students, most of them mingling and seated. Giselle and Jasmine took a seat up front. Isaac walked over to Professor Cornelius who was at the front of the room in front of a podium. He stood by his side and Giselle couldn’t help but wonder if the reason he was outside was to wait for her arrival.

The Professor gave a cocky grin to the audience with an eye brow arched. His smile was slick and sleek. His Smile faded and then he raised a hand before his eyes pierced at them and suddenly everyone’s chatter began to die. He waited patiently for silence. Once the entire hall was silent he grinned again, it was a grin more to himself.  It was a grin that enjoyed the attention and longed for power.

“Welcome, student’s of gifted academy.” He said. “I hope your classes are going well.”

Everyone began to chant like they had no control over themselves. Students were completely excited and when Giselle turned to glance at Jasmine she saw that she was equally enthusiastic. It was like they were family and enjoyed being around each other, that alone made them excited and enthralled in each other’s presence.

The professor smirked before everyone’s chanting died. All eyes were again on him for him to continue. “I’ve seen many of you in your classes and I must say I am proud, you all have been growing and have become extremely bright.” He said. “But that’s not why have you been brought here today. The seasons are changing, its been growing colder by the minute and Christmas is on the way.”

Giselle felt a change in atmosphere; people were smiling to themselves at the mention. She couldn’t help but feel annoyed since she hated cold weather. She glanced at Isaac who looked content under his composed face standing beside the Professor with his arms crossed.

She heard the door to the entrance open and turned, there was Jonah walking in looking distant and upset. She didn’t care, she had other things to worry about and he wasn’t one of them. Without hesitation she turned in her seat and focused her attention back on the Professor.

“As some of you may know winter recess is the time where you are free to visit family and go back to Zeptoria. Some of you may choose to stay here but it is not recommended, as there is nothing to do on campus.” He went on. “Winter break is less than three weeks away, there will be transportation for you all to arrive at home to see your families and transportation for you to come back to the campus.”

Murmurs began to spread through the hall. People talking about what they were going to do once they got back home and who they were going to see. Professor Cornelius patiently waited but Giselle felt sick. Her stomach began to knot for she had no family, she had no one to visit or stay with. Watery eyes came to her face and she fought the urge to cry.
