Years passed, and their love remained eternal.
Nothing had changed.
Though Yeonjun and Beomgyu had faced tough times such as arguments, misunderstandings, and moments of doubt, they always found their way back to each other. Their love grew stronger, unbreakable even in the face of challenges. Tonight was no different.
The couple was heading home after a date at their favorite restaurant, laughing and reminiscing about the night's silly moments. However, as they stepped outside, the sky grew darker, and a heavy rain began to pour, soaking everything within seconds.
Author's POV
The rain was relentless, hammering against the pavement with a ferocity that made even the shortest walk feel like an impossible journey. Yeonjun, always the gentleman, dashed to the car first. Opening the passenger door, he grinned at Beomgyu, his hair slightly wet from the downpour.
"After you, princess," Yeonjun said with a playful smirk, gesturing for Beomgyu to get in.
Beomgyu rolled his eyes at the nickname but couldn't suppress the chuckle that escaped his lips. It was little things like this that made his heart flutter no matter how much time had passed.
Once Beomgyu was settled in, Yeonjun jogged around to the driver's side, his clothes damp from the rain. Sliding into the seat, he glanced at Beomgyu, who was busy shaking the water out of his hair.
"Don't forget your seatbelt," Yeonjun reminded, leaning over and buckling it for Beomgyu himself. The act was familiar, tender, and one Beomgyu secretly adored.
As Yeonjun's hand brushed against his, Beomgyu looked up, their eyes meeting. The world outside seemed to fade. The sound of rain pounding against the car, the faint glow of the streetlights, it all melted away.
Without hesitation, Yeonjun leaned in, his lips brushing against Beomgyu's in a soft, deliberate kiss.
The kiss started slow, their lips moving in sync, as if savoring the moment. But soon, the heat between them grew. Beomgyu's fingers found their way into Yeonjun's damp hair, pulling him closer as the kiss deepened. Their breaths mingled, the space between them nonexistent.
"Yeonjun..." Beomgyu murmured against his lips, his voice breathless yet filled with affection.
Yeonjun pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against Beomgyu's. "What?" he teased, a smirk playing on his lips.
Beomgyu shook his head, a shy smile creeping onto his face. "Nothing. Just... thank you for tonight... it was wonderful..."
Yeonjun's gaze softened, his voice filled with sincerity. "Only the best for my princess." Yeonjun said as he pressed soft kisses on Beomgyu's forehead.
The moment ended as the loud crack of thunder echoed through the sky, reminding them of the storm. Yeonjun reluctantly turned back to the wheel, starting the car.
The rain hadn't eased; if anything, it had worsened. The windshield wipers worked furiously, but the visibility was still poor. Yeonjun's hands tightened on the wheel as he drove cautiously through the slick streets.
Beomgyu, sensing his boyfriend's tension, reached over and rested his hand on Yeonjun's thigh, a comforting gesture. "Take it slow, Junnie. We're not in a rush."
Yeonjun nodded, his jaw clenched as he focused on the road. "Yeah. I just don't want anything to happen. The roads are slippery."
Beomgyu gave his thigh a gentle squeeze. "We'll be fine. I trust you."
But the storm didn't let up. The rain blurred the lines on the road, and the occasional glare of headlights from passing cars made it even harder to see. Yeonjun squinted, his heart pounding in his chest.
Everything happened in an instant.
A sudden flash of light. The blaring horn of a truck.
"Yeonjun, watch out!" Beomgyu screamed, his voice filled with panic.
Yeonjun swerved, his instincts kicking in, but the wet roads betrayed him. The car spun, the tires screeching against the asphalt. Beomgyu reached out, gripping Yeonjun's arm tightly, his own heart racing in terror.
And then, the impact came.
The deafening crunch of metal colliding filled the air as the car slammed into the guardrail. The world tilted, everything spinning as the car came to a stop.
Moments later
The car was eerily silent except for the sound of rain pelting against the broken windshield. Yeonjun's ears rang, his vision blurry as he tried to piece together what had just happened.
"Beomgyu?" he croaked, his voice weak.
Panic surged through him as he turned to the passenger seat. Beomgyu was slumped forward, his seatbelt the only thing holding him in place. Blood trickled down the side of his face, but he was barely breathing.
"Beomgyu! Hey, wake up! Please!" Yeonjun's voice cracked as he gently shook him.
Beomgyu stirred slightly, letting out a small groan. "Y-Yeonjun?" he mumbled, his voice faint.
Relief flooded Yeonjun's chest, but it was short-lived. They needed help. Fast.
Yeonjun fumbled for his phone with trembling hands, dialing emergency services. As he spoke to the operator, his free hand never left Beomgyu's, holding it tightly as if grounding himself.
"We're going to be okay," Yeonjun whispered, more to himself than to Beomgyu. "I've got you. I promise."
Beomgyu gave a weak squeeze in response, his eyes fluttering shut again.
And as the sound of sirens approached in the distance, Yeonjun prayed silently, his only thought being of the boy beside him, the boy who meant everything.
