Author's POV

(This is gonna be a short part of Yeonjun's and Heeseung's past together. Can skip if wanted)

---

There was a time when Yeonjun and Heeseung had been more than just friends. They had been in love—or at least, Yeonjun thought they were. Their relationship started quietly, almost naturally, as if it was meant to be. No one at school knew except for their closest friends. To the world, they were just best friends, but to each other, they were everything.

For Yeonjun, those first few months with Heeseung had felt like a dream. They would stay up late, talking about their futures, their fears, and their hopes. Yeonjun could remember the way Heeseung's smile would light up the room, the way he felt when Heeseung held him close. It was the kind of love that made Yeonjun feel safe, like he had found someone who truly understood him.

But slowly, things began to change.

It started with small things—Heeseung canceling plans at the last minute, showing up late to their dates, texting less and less. Yeonjun tried to brush it off at first, telling himself that Heeseung was just busy with schoolwork or stressed out. But the excuses became more frequent, and Heeseung started becoming more distant.

Then the rumors began.

One day, Yeonjun overheard some students gossiping in the hallways, talking about how Heeseung had been seen with someone else at a party the previous weekend. Yeonjun didn't want to believe it, but the whispers only grew louder as the days went on. Heeseung had always been popular, and there were rumors about him being involved with several people. At first, Yeonjun tried to laugh it off, telling himself that it was just idle gossip. But deep down, the doubt began to gnaw at him.

It wasn't until he saw it with his own eyes that everything fell apart.

Yeonjun had gone to a party one night, hoping to surprise Heeseung, who had told him he was just going to hang out with some friends. But when Yeonjun arrived, he found Heeseung in the back corner of the room, kissing someone else. His heart shattered in that moment, and for a second, he couldn't move—he just stood there, frozen in disbelief.

Heeseung noticed him too late, pulling away from the other person with a look of panic on his face. But the damage was done.

"Yeonjun, wait—" Heeseung started to say, but Yeonjun didn't stick around to hear the excuses. He turned and left the party, his chest tight with anger and hurt.

The following days were a blur of heartbreak. Heeseung tried to apologize, telling Yeonjun that it didn't mean anything, that it was a mistake. But Yeonjun couldn't bring himself to forgive him. The betrayal cut too deep, and every time he thought about Heeseung's lips on someone else, his stomach churned.

To make matters worse, it wasn't long before more rumors began to spread. Heeseung had started telling people that Yeonjun was too "clingy," that their relationship had never been serious. He even hinted that Yeonjun had been the one who caused the breakup, painting himself as the victim. The rumors spread like wildfire, and soon enough, Yeonjun found himself isolated from the people he had once considered friends.

It was humiliating. Heeseung had not only cheated on him but had twisted the narrative to make Yeonjun look like the villain. Every time Yeonjun passed by Heeseung in the halls, he could feel the weight of people's stares, hear the whispers behind his back. It felt like his entire world had crumbled, and he didn't know how to pick up the pieces.

The final blow came when Yeonjun found out that Heeseung had been spreading private details about their relationship—things that Yeonjun had shared in confidence. Heeseung had used their intimacy as a weapon, sharing their secrets with others just to boost his own image. It was the ultimate betrayal, and it left Yeonjun feeling like he didn't even know who Heeseung was anymore.

Their relationship, once so precious, had been shattered beyond repair. And even though Yeonjun tried to move on, the pain lingered. He had trusted Heeseung completely, only to be stabbed in the back in the cruelest way possible.

After everything fell apart, Yeonjun distanced himself from Heeseung entirely. He focused on rebuilding his life, finding comfort in new friendships and throwing himself into his studies. It took time, but eventually, Yeonjun began to heal, slowly learning to trust again.

By the time Beomgyu came into his life, Yeonjun had thought he was over Heeseung. But now, with Heeseung suddenly back in the picture, all those old wounds were threatening to reopen. Seeing him again brought back memories that Yeonjun had worked so hard to bury—memories of love, betrayal, and the person Heeseung used to be.

But this time, Yeonjun wasn't going to let Heeseung hurt him again. He had moved on, and he wasn't going to let Heeseung's presence ruin what he had built with Beomgyu.

No matter what Heeseung tried, Yeonjun knew one thing for sure he wasn't the same person he used to be. And neither was Heeseung.
