Author's POV

———

The sun shone warmly through the windows as Yeonjun and Beomgyu walked into school, hand in hand. The morning had been perfect so far, and the way Yeonjun's thumb lightly brushed against Beomgyu's made Beomgyu smile to himself, feeling as though nothing could go wrong today. Everything just seemed so light and easy, like their happiness was contagious.

Their first class of the day was art, and it was one of Beomgyu's favorites. Not because he was especially good at it, but because it gave him the chance to relax and create. Plus, Yeonjun loved to tease him when he got too focused, which always made things more fun.

"Hold still," Yeonjun whispered with a grin, his brush dipped in blue paint as he leaned over Beomgyu's canvas. Before Beomgyu could react, Yeonjun dabbed a small dot of paint right on his nose.

Beomgyu gasped dramatically, his eyes widening in mock horror. "You did not!"

Yeonjun only laughed, flashing him that cheeky grin that Beomgyu could never stay mad at. "I definitely did."

Beomgyu, not one to back down, dipped his own brush in red paint and swiped a streak across Yeonjun's cheek. "Well, now we're even."

Yeonjun blinked in surprise, then burst into laughter, his eyes crinkling in that way Beomgyu loved. "Alright, alright, I deserved that."

The rest of the class passed in a blur of laughter and teasing, the two of them sneaking glances at each other between brushstrokes. The other students couldn't help but notice the playful energy between them, and even the teacher couldn't bring herself to scold them, smiling quietly at their antics.

"Why do I feel like your masterpiece is more on my face than on your canvas?" Beomgyu teased, scrubbing at the paint on Yeonjun's cheek with a gentle hand.

"Well, you're a work of art yourself," Yeonjun replied smoothly, leaning into Beomgyu's touch. Beomgyu just rolled his eyes with a small smile, though he couldn't help but feel his heart flutter.

After art class, they made their way to the cafeteria, and instead of sitting inside, they grabbed their trays and headed outside to the courtyard. It was the perfect day for it—sunny, with a soft breeze that rustled the leaves in the trees above them. They found a shady spot under a large oak tree, where they could eat and enjoy the fresh air.

Their friends soon joined them—Taehyun, Soobin, and Huening Kai—who immediately started teasing them about how close they were sitting.

"You two are practically glued together," Soobin remarked, smirking as he took a seat across from them.

"Can you blame us? Look at Beomgyu," Yeonjun said dramatically, resting his head on Beomgyu's shoulder. "He's irresistible."

Beomgyu's face flushed slightly, but he smiled nonetheless. "You're ridiculous," he muttered, but there was warmth in his voice.

As they ate, Huening Kai pulled out a deck of cards, and before long, they were all engrossed in a lighthearted game of Go Fish. It was filled with playful banter and exaggerated reactions every time someone made a lucky draw or lost a card.

"Winner buys snacks after school!" Soobin declared confidently, already planning his victory.

"You're on," Yeonjun shot back, his competitive spirit coming alive.

Despite the friendly competition, the game was full of laughter and playful accusations of cheating. Beomgyu couldn't stop giggling at Yeonjun's mock outraged expressions every time he lost a card to Huening Kai. Eventually, Huening Kai won, and Soobin sighed dramatically.
