Lily's POV

"Alright, I'll pick you up after school. Just think, you're done with high school after this." Jared, my brother, said looking at the high school just like how I was. I hated high school. People say it's the best four years of your life. For me, that was so false. I call high school Hell.

"We're getting my car after, right?" I looked at him. My car was in the shop getting fixed.

"Yes Lily. Now hurry before you're late!" I got out of the car and headed for class.

This was my last year in Hell. I was finally a senior. Then when school is over I'll be eighteen and I can finally move. I lived with my brother my whole life. He actually got custody of me. My parents died when I was three. My Aunt took care of us for about a year. She wasn't that great. Jared wanted better for me. Once he turned eighteen he got custody of me. I was four when that happened. The reason why there is a fourteen year gap between us is because my parents had Jared when they were teenagers. Then they decided to wait to have me. At least that's what Jared told me.

I looked at my schedule for my first class. I started walking in that direction. I turned the corner into another hallway and that's when I saw him, Michael Davis.

Michael moved here right before freshman year. Michael is that popular guy that all the girls want, except me. Somehow in these four years of living in America, he hasn't lost his British accent one bit. The accent is one reason the girls love him. I can't stand him. Michael's the main reason why high school is hell for me. I always try to avoid him when I see him. Looks like today is not the day.

"Hey nerd!" Michael yelled starring at me. All his friends and everyone else around him looked my way and laughed.

I kept my head down and continued walking. Michael came by me though.

"Hey nerd. When I talk to you that means you pay attention and look at me." I kept starring at the floor. Why would I want to look at him, he's a jerk. "Hey! Look at me when I talk to you." I looked up at him and into his green eyes. "Damn. Hasn't anyone in your family taught you manners? Oh wait. The only one in your family is your brother." He slapped the books out of my hand and I looked away. Michael leaned close to my ear. "Next time when I say hi you better say it back." He walked away and I bent down to grab my books.

I realized I started to cry when a teardrop landed on my books. I wiped my eyes and continued walking to first hour. This was going to be another long year being bullied by Michael.

Finally it was the last hour of the day. I haven't seen Michael for the rest of the day and thankfully he wasn't in any of my classes. I walked in the classroom and my heart broke. Michael was sitting in the back of the classroom on his phone. I thought I finally had the perfect schedule this year and wouldn't have to deal with him. Michael was by the windows so I decided to sit in the front on the other side by the door.

My teacher walked in after the bell rang.

"Good afternoon class. My name is Ms. Smith. We will start out with attendance." Ms. Smith said. When she was done she started talking about the class rules. Ms. Smith seemed sort of mean but not totally mean.

"Now for your first class project. I gave you all partners and a state. You and your partner will have to do research on that state and write a paper about it." I started to get worried as she started reading off partners. Hopefully I got someone nice. "Michael Davis, your partner is Lily Peters. State, Ohio."

I looked straight at her. You've got to be kidding. I looked back at Michael and of course he was looking at me with a smirk. Great, Michael has to be in one of my classes, History is my worst subject and now Michael is my partner in my worst subject. Not only do I have to deal with him during school, but now after.
