We all stood under any canopy we could find as the first few drops of rain fell from the sky. The wind began to pick up softly as more rain began coming down harder, filling my nose with the scents of fresh soil. I closed my eyes for a moment, remembering how much I enjoy the rain; Its smells and sounds always find ways to ease me.

I opened my eyes and looked over at Newt who for some reason looked tense as his gaze was looking off into the distance. When I looked to where he was gazing, I noticed he was looking at the doors to the Maze.

Thomas suddenly spoke, seeing both of us looking at the doors, "What happens if they don't make it?" He asked, as he impatiently tapped his fingers on the support of the canopy.

"They're going to make it," said Newt, not breaking his gaze on the doors.

I watched as Thomas continued to tap his fingers in a constant rhythm that I soon found myself drawn to. Then I suddenly felt someone put a hand on my shoulder and I turned around to see Gally whose eyebrows were frowned. "I need to talk to you, Y/N," he said, his tone stern but not urgent.

I nodded then he pulled me further into the canopy where only a few other Gladers were. He looked around us then back at me but it was more like down since he's a good height taller than me. "What do you need to talk to me about?" I asked and he gave me a slightly annoyed look.

"It's about... Thomas," he said, crossing his arms as he leaned his back against a canopy post.

"What about Thomas?" I asked curiously, although I could already tell what he was leaning towards.

He sighed, "I don't trust him." Said Gally, looking over to where Thomas was, "There's just something about him..."

I shook my head, "And what do you want me to do about your suspicions?" I asked, frowning slightly.

"I want you to believe them," he said, then paused, "And then convince Newt and then Alby once he gets back."

I looked at him with shock, "What? You can't just expect me to do that," I protested.

"I've already tried to get through to them, but you can. And I know that you know something's off."

"No."

"Come on, Y/N," he said, "We all saw the way Ben attacked him yesterday and we all heard what he had to say."

"Yes but that doesn't make it right to go spreading some rumors about the Greenie or even trying to use me to get Newt and Alby on your side." I said, my voice rising in pitch.

Gally stopped leaning on the pole and stepped closer to me so that I could almost feel his breath on my face. "You'll change your mind in time," he said, "Just find me once you wake up and see the truth."

I watched as Gally then walked out from underneath the canopy and as I did so, I suddenly noticed that it wasn't raining anymore. Not just that, but I noticed that it was getting late. Maybe almost too late.

I walked out from underneath the canopy and looked over at the doors and saw a group of Gladers beginning to form in front of it. They were all anxious about Alby and Minho, afraid that they wouldn't make it back in time.

As I began walking over to the group of Gladers around the door, I spotted Thomas and Newt walking over too. I caught up to them once we all finally reached the door.

"Hey, guys," I said, as I walked beside them.

Thomas and Newt gave a small smile back and a short greeting, then we all looked towards the door.

The anxiety that everyone else was having quickly engulfed me as I saw the sun dip lower and lower below the top of the Maze. I continued to look into the Maze, imagining that they'd come running around the corner any second now, but they didn't. There wasn't even a single sound coming from the Maze or around us except for breathing. I began to feel uneasy. Where are they?

Suddenly, the doors began to close and we all held our breath, staring even harder into the Maze. Then, as we did so, Alby and Minho suddenly appeared from around the corner and everyone cheered but something was off. "Something's wrong..." I said, causing Newt to look over at me then back at Alby and Newt.

"Alby," said Newt, as we all noticed that Minho was carrying Alby who looked to be unconscious.

Everyone started to encourage Minho to keep going as the doors continued to close. Once the doors were almost completely closed, we all saw that Alby and Minho weren't going to make it in time. Just as the doors were almost closed, Thomas ran forward and began to make his way into the Maze. We all tried to stop him but it was no use.

Without another thought, I suddenly found myself running after Thomas and into the Maze. Newt and everyone else tried to stop me and Newt was able to grab my wrist but I quickly shook his hand off. Before I knew it, I was in the Maze and heard the door close behind me, cutting off the yells and shouts of the other Gladers, including Newt.
