It was raining outside, which made Willow very disappointed - as she doesn't like the rain.
The shop was open again, some people sat at tables eating their treats of choice or drinking a beverage they had ordered. Others came in, ordered something to take away and left again. Whilst some people were entering and leaving at the entrance. In the mist of it all, sat a young girl who was about seven years old, she sat at the table to the left of the door and on the left chair. She drank an orange juice (as she was certainly too young for the caffiene she definitely didn't need) and munching on a brownie that was hand baked by her parents.
As one day, Something Sweet became more a family-owned business than just a couple-owned one.
Felix noticed, the oddly disappointed look upon his daughter's face. Before she came into their lives he had been scared to become a parent, 6 years previous where the option of adoption had very much came as an opportunity for Felix and his husband. The last thing he wished to do was turn out like his mother and treat his own children with the same horrific disrespect his mother did. But with the help of Chris and his therapist, they eventually worked through it and ended up adopting Willow into their family.
"Hey Lo-Lo, what's that sad look for honey?" Felix spoke, kneeling down beside his daughter and placing a hand gently on her arm.
"It's raining." She replied, looking out at what was - in fact - rain outside hitting those concrete streets as Felix loved. "I don't like it when it rains."
"Well, sweetheart, the rain doesn't have to be a bad thing. You can do a lot with rainy days and something sweet." Felix said, explaining to the young girl with a gentle smile over his face.
"And something sweeter." She added, smiling back at her dad who, even if she didn't really understand the feeling, made her feel very lucky to have him.
"Absolutely." Felix beamed, oh how he loved the kid and he felt equally as lucky - if not luckier - to have her too.
He stood up briskly, brushing down any creases or crumbs on his apron (the very one he'd been matching with Chris for 8 years) and collecting Willow's empty plate and cup from the table she sat at. "Wanna come help me and Daddy serve all the lovely customers?"
"Yeah!" She giggled, taking Felix's free hand and walking excitedly with him to Chris who was stood behind the counter serving all the customers.
Felix placed her on her chair, that was put behind the counter so she could help serve (by being cute and making all the customers lose their minds over her cuteness). Chris spotted her almost immediately and, as he served a customer who was literally giggling over Willow's cuteness, fluffed up her brown locks with his fingers and made her laugh sweetly.
Felix also pressed a kiss to the back of Chris' neck, before he went off to clear a few more tables. As he did that, a familiar face came into the shop with a stressed out and utterly exhausted expression across his features.
"Hey Minho! Everything okay?" Chris greeted his friend, as he came up to the counter and leaned his arms against it with a light thud and a sigh. He gave Willow a quick smile to make sure she wasn't unnoticed, fiddling with his wedding ring anxiously.
"I'm gonna need one of your amazing brownies to-go please, preferably with some vodka in it." Minho spoke, clearly exasperated by something.
"What's wrong Uncle Mins?" Willow asked, her names for all her parents' friends being 'uncle' then a nickname. There's Uncle Sungie, Uncle Jinnie, Uncle Innie, Uncle Mins, Uncle Minnie and Uncle Binnie. Somehow she doesn't get them confused.
"My idiot husband has done it again."
"What's Jeongin done?" Chris asked, watching as Felix literally ran out back to try and see if they did actually have any vodka.
Minho rolled his eyes, before answering the question. "He's in the hospital. He fell down another elevator shaft."
"You're joking." Chris' eyes widened, trying to stop himself from bursting out into laughter.
"AGAIN?" Felix practically yelled in awe, utterly surprised (although at this point, he really shouldn't be). He was now behind the counter, pouring half a bottle of vodka into a water bottle for Minho and grabbing him a fresh brownie as well. "That's like the..."
"Seventh time, yep."
"I'm seven!" Willow added in, causing a wide smile to wipe over Minho's face at her sudden cuteness.
"Seven times is crazy." Chris spoke, handing over the water bottle filled with alcohol and the brownie to Minho. "It's on the house, I hope Jeongin's okay."
"Thanks guys, I'm surprised I'm not widowed yet but I'm also not one to wish death on my loved ones. See you guys soon!" Minho waved and spoke so simply it was concerning, as he made his way back out of Something Sweet with the familiar ding of a bell.
"I swear they should either get someone to fix the elevator in their apartment building or they should move at this point." Felix spoke, with a slight eye-roll. He gave Willow a quick and light tickle and Chris a quick and light kiss, before he went over to clear another table. This table was close enough for Felix to continue their conversation however.
"Exactly!" Chris let out a laugh, kissing Willow's head softly before jumping back into 'work-mode' and serving the next customer that had come in.
The day soon then passed by them, the shop eventually closed and Willow cozy in her bed. Leaving Chris and Felix alone for the evening.
Felix watched, from the table to the left of the door on the right seat, he watched as Chris moved from behind the counter after cleaning it and how he pulled his glasses gently from his face. How he puffed a bit of air onto each lense and wiped it with his sleeve before placing them carefully back on top of the bridge of his nose. Chris then soon noticed the endearing gaze Felix had locked on him, wandering over to him to sit on the other seat opposite his husband. A seat he'd sat in many a time.
"I love you so much." Felix whispered, catching Chris' attention yet again but this time with his low, honey-like voice.
"I love you more." Chris whispered back, noticing how Felix suddenly stood up and reached out his palm for Chris to take. Which he willingly did so, not quite expecting to just be pulled into a comforting and loving hug, but not complaining about it at all.
Felix's head was in it's place. The sweet crook of Chris' neck. A spot Felix's forehead had been pressed against many times, a spot Felix had laid many kisses onto and a spot that felt like home. Everything about that man felt like home.
"Rainy days." Chris spoke gently, Felix's head removing itself from his neck to look into his eyes but their bodies still pressed up against eachother.
"And something sweet." Felix replied softly, pulling Chris onto his lips and kissing him tenderly and lovingly.
