She was still in her thoughts when her phone rang. She distractedly stared at the screen. It was some unknown number. Andaleeb accepted the call anyway.
"Hello!" A meek and frightened female voice came from the other side of the speaker.
"Who is it?" Andaleeb inquired in confusion.
"Are...are you Andaleeb?" The mention of her name from the other woman raised her ears.
"Who are you and how do you know my name?" Andaleeb questioned next.
"I am Maha, Andaleeb. I...I am Aurang's sister. The Aurang you were going to get married. Can...can you...."
She was still speaking when her voice faded into a thin air and then the call got disconnected.
Did Aurang's sister call her? By the way, she was talking, it felt like she was scared and she was in danger. Andaleeb again tried to call her but now the line couldn't reach. She attempted numerous times but all in vain.
Andaleeb stroked the skin of her neck in worry. What had happened? After seven months, why did Maha contact her? Suddenly, her mind flashed, and a thought crossed. Masab had always threatened her about Maha's life whenever she talked about Aurang. What if he and his men did something to the poor girl?
A wave of shock and anger flew through her veins, and she moved her feet towards the hall to confront him, but then she stopped. What if Masab was really related to this and he would try to harm Maha because she called her? No, it wouldn't be right. She needed to do something else. Andaleeb chewed over her nails in apprehension. What exactly could have happened to Maha? Aurang's death news must have reached her. What if she was going to hold her accountable for her brother's demise? Yet if she had to do that, Maha would have contacted her way before. With this, another query lurked in her mind.
Masab had murdered Aurang because of her. But what did he portray his death as? There was no way he would have said it openly that he killed him. But given how daring and fearless of outcomes he was, it wouldn't be odd to hear that he did claim that.
She needed to do something for Maha. She couldn't save Aurang but she couldn't make the poor girl a victim of this dangerous man just because she was related to her in any way. But first, she had to make sure of the thing that happened to Maha. She just couldn't talk to Masab about her without any preparation. Andaleeb again dialed Maha's number but it again couldn't engage.
She hoped and prayed in her heart for safety. She had to find any way to reach Maha before it was too late.
Andaleeb walked back into the hall of the main event and saw Masab standing there, talking to some men. He looked graceful, breathtaking taking, and tall. One of his hands was tugged inside his pants pocket, and with the other one, he was holding his glass. His expressions were focused as he was discussing with his colleagues. She suddenly felt so much hatred for him that the urge to kill him intensified.
He didn't deserve to live. He didn't deserve to be happy. He didn't deserve the companionship of the one he loved after ruining so many people. He made everything devastated. He killed Aurang, he hurt her, and now he was after Maha, who was innocent in all this. If he murdered the man who just made the small mistake of falling in love with the girl Masab wanted to own, he should also have the same fate. He also should just die.
She stepped near him and he gave her his nicest of smile. His blue orbs flared with love but it felt fabricated to Andaleeb now. He gestured the men with his eyes for a leave and they really departed with a head nod, leaving them alone here. Masab encircled his arm around her waist and pulled her to his side. His touch once again evoked unusual feelings in her, but they soon got masked by the newly germinated disgust for him, which occurred in her heart after talking to Maha.
"Where did you go?" He asked, gently.
Andaleeb shrugged her shoulders. "I just went out for some fresh air for a bit."
He moved his head in acceptance. "Don't go so far away from me for such a long while, sweetheart. The possessive bastard in me becomes anxious."
The next moment, Masab bent a bit and dropped a small peck over her head. She made a fist of her hand. At that time, she once again got an urge to kill him. Her heart and mind were in conflict. There was a battle going on. The mind which wanted to make this man suffer as he did with Aurang and the heart which wanted him against all odds.
