The general turned his chair around, and looked at her with a straight face.

"You've been chosen for an important mission... you're our best soldier"

The general opened a file on the desk. "We came to the conclusion that you would be best for this mission, as your experiences as a child should allow you to handle any sights on the mission better than your average soldier." He said as he looked up at her. Ann looked back with a stern look.

Ann suddenly remembered an incident at the orphanage. She had failed to finish her chores in time.

"Ann!" The head lady yelled through the hall as Ann struggled to scrub a shirt in the laundry bucket. " It's past 4:30! You should have been done by 4:00. What have you been doing all this time?" The woman snarled

Ann was sore from her chores, she hadn't gotten a break since she came home.

"Sorry miss...." Ann said, tears in her eyes. Her body ached. "I'll do better. I've had a lot of chores today.. and the walk from school was-"

"Do you think that's an excuse?" The head Lady snapped, anger in her voice. They grabbed Ann by the arm and dragged her, causing Ann to drop the shirt and knock over the bucket, spewing water everywhere. Flooding the floor with soapy water. The woman stepped back in shock.

" LOOK what you have DONE now Ann!" The woman shouted deafeningly. A few kids poked their head from their rooms, shaking and scared.

The woman was Scarlett, and puffing.

"THAT'S IT." The lady yelled, causing Ann to jump in fear, her heart pounding. The head woman dragged her through the halls. Pulling hard and squeezing Ann's arm tightly. She threw her out the back door, making Ann stumble, slammed the door and locked it.

"You'll stay out there all night." The woman said coldly.

"No please! Please no!" And yelled banging on the door. Ann sobbed, " Please let me back in, please!" She shouted, but there was no reply.

Ann sobbed at the door, then sat down leaning on the wall and hugging her knees and cried.

The next morning she was let back in.

Tarah ran to her, tears on her face.

"Ann!" She called and wrapped her hands around Ann's legs.

Ann seeing her sister was the best part of that morning.

The general cleared his throat. Snapping Ann out of the thought.

"You will leave at 12am tonight. Sharp. Pack your bags, the limit is two. You will leave on boat"

He gave her a tense look "Don't disappoint me Ann."

Ann kept her gaze forward. "Yes Sir!"

"Good. You are dismissed"

Quickly a letter is given to her, stating where the next mission is going to be and which type of transport is going to be provided.

Ann felt nervous about her first assignment but the letter had said she would have a partner to help her. She wondered curiously about who her partner would be and she hoped they wouldn't be annoying towards her or be some almighty guy.

Training was harsh that day. More harsh than usual. He body was sore from all the

tasks.

She went to her dorm and packed her bags. The duffel bags the agency provided were big enough to hold enough things. She should have enough for the trip, however long it was gonna be.

One of her roommates came in, sweaty from her training.

"Got any pain reliever?"

"Yeah, what for?" Ann replied, still packing

"I'm aching everywhere.. what are you doing?" Her roommate questioned as she rubbed her side.

"I got a mission."

"A mission? Finally girl, you've been training so long" she noticed the slight sulk in Ann's face. "Ann.. aren't you glad?" Her roommate, slightly worried.

"Yeah it's just.. I don't know how long this mission is gonna take. I was hoping I could see my sister. Get permission to see her anyways." Ann replied.

"You can't just see her?"

"It's complicated."

"Oh." Her roommate muttered

"I'll leave your pain reliever on your bed" Ann said, still viewing her bag of clothes.

Her roommate nodded and walked away. Ann looked back at her leaving, then continued to pack.

That girl was right. Should she be happy? She had trained for 10 years, and still hadn't gotten a mission until now. Anytime she asked about being assigned to one, her captain brushed it off. Why all of a sudden, out of nowhere, she was admitted into one?

Near twelve, Ann decides to get ready.

She wears a pair of black shorts, flexible tights, a weapon holster, black leg warmers and platforms. Ann goes to her closet and gets herself a nice top and a vest to hold her gun and knife. When she's done putting the top and the vest on, she goes to the mirror to admire herself. Even though Ann might be a government agent, she would love to be fashionable at the same time. She smirks at the outfit she put together.

She never really got to really pick what she would wear. The orphanage had limited clothes, and any time a new box of apparel came in, kids rushed and fought over any piece of clothing. She was lucky enough to get new pants for her and her sister once.

Of course, the agency required a strict uniform policy as well.

Ann viewed the clock. It was 12.

Ann walks outside of the agency, a black Audi with highly tinted windows is waiting outside for her. Ann opens the car door and quickly sits in the backseat of the car, observing the way to the port.

She'd never been on a boat, let alone leave the country. She wondered for what awaited her.
