Beomgyu let out a long sigh of relief, leaning his head against Yeonjun's shoulder. "Do you think he's really gone this time?"
Yeonjun wrapped an arm around Beomgyu, pulling him close. "Yeah. I think he's finally letting go."
They sat there in comfortable silence for a while, watching the sun dip below the horizon. The weight of Heeseung's presence had lifted, leaving only the two of them. Stronger. Closer.
Beomgyu tilted his head up, smiling softly at Yeonjun. "I'm glad we got through that together."
"Me too," Yeonjun murmured, brushing a gentle kiss against Beomgyu's forehead. "No matter what happens, we'll always get through it. Together."
Beomgyu smiled and leaned in closer, their foreheads touching as they held each other. The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in their own little bubble of peace and love.
This time, there was no lingering shadow of doubt. No third party waiting in the wings to tear them apart.
It was just them, as it always should have been.
And for the first time in what felt like forever, everything felt right again.
"Hey, how about we get some ice cream?" Yeonjun said, pointing toward a nearby ice cream truck.
Beomgyu's face lit up instantly. "Yes, please!" he exclaimed, grabbing Yeonjun's arm and pulling him eagerly toward the truck.
As they reached it, Yeonjun turned to Beomgyu with a smile. "What flavor are you getting?"
"Vanilla!" Beomgyu responded without hesitation, his excitement making Yeonjun chuckle.
"Alright," Yeonjun said, turning to the ice cream vendor. "Can I get one vanilla cone and one mint chocolate, please?"
Beomgyu scrunched his nose playfully. "Mint chocolate? It tastes like toothpaste!"
Yeonjun laughed, shaking his head. "No, it doesn't! You just have bad taste."
The vendor handed over their ice cream cones, and Yeonjun paid before they both walked over to a nearby bench. Beomgyu was already licking at his vanilla cone, his eyes lighting up with every bite.
Yeonjun smiled fondly, watching Beomgyu's content expression before taking a bite of his own mint chocolate ice cream. "You're missing out," he teased, enjoying the cool sweetness.
Beomgyu laughed, shaking his head. "I'll stick to my vanilla, thanks." He paused, then glanced sideways at Yeonjun. "But... maybe I'll try a bite of yours. Just to see if it's really as bad as I remember."
"Oh, really?" Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, a playful grin tugging at his lips. "Be careful, you might fall in love with it."
Beomgyu snickered, leaning closer. He took a tiny bite from Yeonjun's cone and immediately scrunched up his face, pretending to gag. "Yup, still tastes like toothpaste."
Yeonjun burst into laughter. "I can't believe you hate it so much. You're so dramatic!"
They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, enjoying the late afternoon air and the melting cones in their hands. The sun was slowly setting, casting a warm glow over the park as the day slipped into evening.
As they finished their ice cream, Beomgyu leaned his head on Yeonjun's shoulder, letting out a happy sigh. "This was a good day," he said quietly as Yeonjun agreed.
Yeonjun wrapped an arm around Beomgyu, pulling him closer. "Me too," he agreed softly. "We needed this... just you and me, no stress."
Beomgyu nodded. "No Heeseung drama, no school... just us."
They sat like that for a while, watching the sky turn pink and orange as the sun dipped lower. When the last of their ice cream had disappeared, Yeonjun stood up and offered his hand to Beomgyu. "Ready to head home?"
Beomgyu took his hand and got to his feet. "Yeah, let's go."
They walked side by side, their fingers intertwined as they made their way back to Beomgyu's place. The streets were quieter now, with only a few people out for evening strolls. The peacefulness of it all made the moment feel even more special—like they were in their own little world.
When they reached Beomgyu's doorstep, they paused for a moment, neither one wanting the day to end just yet.
"Do you want to come inside?" Beomgyu asked, his voice soft.
Yeonjun smiled, shaking his head gently. "Not tonight. I should probably head home. But... I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
Beomgyu nodded, though there was a hint of reluctance in his eyes. "Okay. Tomorrow."
Yeonjun leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Beomgyu's forehead, lingering for a moment before pulling away. "Goodnight," he whispered.
"Goodnight," Beomgyu replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
Yeonjun gave him one last smile before turning to leave. As he walked away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth in his chest. The day had been perfect—simple, peaceful, and filled with quiet moments that reminded him of how much he loved Beomgyu.
And as Beomgyu watched him disappear down the street, he smiled to himself, knowing that whatever challenges came their way, they would be okay as long as they had days like this to hold onto.
