"Come on, let's get out of here," Yeonjun whispered, stifling a laugh as he tucked the rolls into his jacket.
Beomgyu couldn't stop giggling as they ran back to the lake, their makeshift bread hidden away like stolen treasure. Once they reached the water's edge, Yeonjun pulled out one of the rolls and broke it into small pieces, tossing them toward the ducks.
"There," he said, watching the ducks eagerly gobble up the pieces. "Now they won't go hungry."
Beomgyu shook his head with a smile. "You're something else," he said, watching as more ducks waddled toward them, eager for the free meal.
They spent the next half hour feeding the ducks, talking about anything and everything. The conversation flowed easily, full of light teasing and shared jokes that made both of them laugh until their sides hurt. Every so often, Yeonjun would nudge Beomgyu playfully, his eyes full of mischief, and Beomgyu would nudge him back, enjoying the way their laughter filled the air.
After the last of the bread was gone, Yeonjun plopped down on the grass again, pulling Beomgyu down beside him. They lay there together, staring up at the clear blue sky, their hands intertwined.
"This is nice," Beomgyu said softly, turning his head to look at Yeonjun. "I don't think I've felt this relaxed in a while."
Yeonjun smiled, squeezing Beomgyu's hand. "I'm glad we did this," he said. "Sometimes, you just need to forget about everything and enjoy the moment."
Beomgyu nodded, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "Yeah," he agreed, his voice soft. "I'm really happy right now."
Yeonjun looked over at him, his gaze full of affection. "Me too," he said quietly, his voice sincere.
For a moment, they just lay there, side by side, feeling the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze on their skin. It was the kind of moment that felt infinite, like time had slowed down just for them. Beomgyu felt a sense of peace wash over him, and he couldn't help but smile.
After a while, Yeonjun sat up, stretching his arms above his head. "Okay, what's next?" he asked, glancing at Beomgyu with a playful smile. "We've still got a few hours before we have to go back."
Beomgyu thought for a moment, then grinned. "How about we climb a tree?"
Yeonjun raised an eyebrow. "Climb a tree? Are we ten years old?"
Beomgyu laughed, standing up and dusting off his pants. "Come on, it'll be fun! I bet you can't even make it halfway up."
"Oh, you're on," Yeonjun shot back, his competitive spirit igniting.
They spent the next few minutes searching for the perfect tree—one with thick, sturdy branches that reached high into the sky. When they finally found it, Yeonjun wasted no time, grabbing onto the lowest branch and pulling himself up with ease.
"See?" he called down to Beomgyu, grinning. "Piece of cake."
Beomgyu rolled his eyes and followed him up, his laughter echoing through the trees. They climbed higher and higher until they were perched on a branch that overlooked the lake, the view even more beautiful from above.
"Okay, I admit it," Yeonjun said, glancing around. "This was a good idea."
Beomgyu smirked. "Told you," he said, nudging Yeonjun's side.
They stayed up there for a while, talking and laughing as they looked out over the park. The world seemed small from their perch in the tree, and Beomgyu felt a sense of freedom that he hadn't felt in a long time.
Eventually, they climbed down and wandered around the park, stopping to admire the flowers and playfully chase each other through the open fields. It was the kind of carefree fun that made them feel like kids again, and for a few hours, all their worries melted away.
