The night was wrapped in darkness. Not a single star shone in the sky, and a cold wind swept across the sleeping city. Heavy clouds gathered overhead, promising rain at any moment.

On the rooftop of the tallest building stood a lone girl, sitting carelessly on the edge as if the dizzying height beneath her meant nothing.

"Hey! You'll fall if you sit there!" a man's voice suddenly called from behind. "What are you doing? Do you have a death wish?"

The girl slowly turned her head.

The moment the man saw her face, his expression changed.

"M-Miss Cinderella!" he stammered. "I'm... I'm so sorry, ma'am. I didn't realize it was you."

He glanced nervously at the dark clouds.

"It'll start raining soon. You should head home."

Without waiting for a reply, he quickly walked away.

The girl watched him disappear before letting out a quiet, bitter laugh.

"'Miss Cinderella'..." she muttered. "Cinderella, my foot. My name is Rose Jishi."

She turned back toward the glittering city below. Thousands of lights sparkled in the distance, yet none of them warmed the emptiness in her eyes.

"I am the eldest daughter of the Jishi family," she whispered to herself. "One of the wealthiest families in the country."

"My mother died when I was still a child. A few years later, my father remarried, and my two stepsisters were born."

She paused as the cold wind brushed against her face.

"Then, when I was sixteen... my father died too."

"Overnight, the responsibility for the entire Jishi family fell onto my shoulders. Since then, I've been running the family business."

A faint, sarcastic smile appeared on her lips.

"My life is strangely similar to the fairy tale of Cinderella. That's why everyone started calling me 'Cinderella.'"

She sighed softly.

"The funny part is... my stepmother treats me like a princess. She calls me Cinderella too."

The first raindrop landed on the back of her hand.

She didn't move.

"Even though my life is nothing like Cinderella's," Rose murmured, gazing at the sea of lights below

"Even though my life is nothing like Cinderella's," Rose murmured, gazing at the sea of lights below. "No cruel hardships... no charming prince... and certainly no fairy godmother turning pumpkins into carriages."

A faint smile crossed her lips before fading away.

"Yet everyone insists on calling me Cinderella."

She let out a quiet sigh.
