“It's not in my goal.” she said. I checked mine.

“Not mine, either.” I said.

I started laughing as we checked under the table and the floor.

“It's gone.” I said.

“Does this belong to you two and do you want to explain why I got hit in the head with it?” a gentle voice asked.

We turned and saw an employee standing at the back of the arcade. In her hand, she held the puck. We laughed and Ashley said “Sorry.”

I took the puck from her and I looked at her name tag.

“I don't think I've seen you here before, Melody.”

She wore the employee uniform and had her black hair in a ponytail.

“I work in the back to do fortune telling.” she said.

“Cool, can you tell us our futures?” Ashley asked.

“I don't know. My future's probably not the best.” I said.

“Oh, c'mon what's the harm in knowing your future?”

“Lots of things. Things that you don't want to know.” I said.

She gave me her kitten eyes and I said “But maybe this once.”

I could never escape those deep brown eyes when they went wide. We followed Melody into the back room. There was a table with two stools in front and a chair behind the table. Ashley and I sat on the stools and Melody took her place in the chair.

“How do we do this?” Ashley asked.

“Hold out your hands. I’ll read your lines one at a time.” Melody answered.

She looked at our hands’ palm lines and said.

“Wow, the girl's I can read easily but yours,” she paused and looked up at me. “Yours I haven’t seen one like this for a long time.”

“What's it say?” I asked.

“You’ll emerge from below and rise above all after the death of an evil doer.”

“So, there's a war coming.” I said.

“Not necessarily.” Melody said.

“What do you mean?”

“You come out of a suffering you’ve endured for years.”

“What do mine say?” Ashley asked.

“Death circles you. He’s planning to claim someone.”

“I'm going to lose someone to Death?”

“Yes, and I also see that you’ll endure pain and sorrow in your formative years.”

Melody looked at the last line and gave us smiles.

“However, it seems that true love is to meet you.”

“Ladies first.” I said, leaning back and putting my feet up on the table.

“How are you doing that?” Ashley asked.

“Mad strong stomach muscles.”

“He is a true friend to you and he’ll give you salvation and happiness. You’ll feel the need for him as your king and he’ll accept.”

“Your turn.” Ashley said, slapping my stomach. She then shook her hand in pain. “Mad strong and hard stomach muscles.” She complained.

I sat up and Melody read the bone.
