"The extras talk too damn much so I turned off the notifications for that pointless chat."
"Really? You know you could just remove yourself from the chat right? Or is the Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight afraid to offend his classmates?" The teasing tone of the subtle confession by the seated youth that he indeed knew his future partner's official Hero name did not go unnoticed by his now rather red-faced companion.
"Oi! How the hell do you know that name? I haven't told anyone other than the teachers, asshole!"
"You sometimes talk in your sleep, Kacchan." The grin on the curly haired teen peeking from behind his Red Riot mug was anything but kind. One might describe it as perhaps: a little dirty.
Choosing to change the topic rather than pick a good natured fight or laps into a bout of unintended flirting, Izuku asked another rather unrelated question. "Are you going to do the resistance lessons with Midnight tomorrow evening? I don't think anybody else from our class is but I know Shinso and a few others from 3B are." The side track by the no longer shorter youth was more than welcomed by the looming blonde.
Tamping down the flush threatening to take over his handsome face from the younger teen's earlier smile, Bakugo was happy to take up the detour. "I'm not spending any more time than I have to with that crazy chick." Izuku's giggle made the spiky haired boy want to grab him up into a bone crushing hug but he resisted as he rounded the couch and sat down next to the greenette while facing the younger with a smirk.
"That's not nice. Ms. Kayama is a great teacher. But I don't think I will either. I have some work I need to do for my language class this weekend. I love how we both took the initiative to better ourselves as future Pros by increasing our communication options! I just know we'll both be even greater Heros because of it!" As a silent tear trickled down the smiling boy's face a dangerous hand reached out to wipe it away.
"What's wrong Bunn- Nerd?" A slightly pink freckled cheek leaned into a warm palm as he closed his eyes and dropped his forced happy persona.
"What if we don't end up working together after graduation like we planned, Kacchan? What if you decide Ash is a better partner for you and you want to stay at Jeanist Office and I go solo at Might Tower? I don't want to stand in your way but I still want us to be partners one day! I might never really know when it happened but you're my best friend again! I just want to be able to stay with you like we always planned!" More tears joined the first and the explosion quirk user gave into the pull in his chest that screamed at him to comfort the now distraught youth facing him.
"The hell are you on about Deku? How the fuck could you think I'd rather work with that self impressed Firefly over you?" The muffled quiet cries of the greenette slowly subsided after that and soon the two were face to face once again. Only this time much closer.
"You like Ash."
"He's tolerable."
"He likes you."
"Like I give a shit. I just work with the guy." Scoffing while ignoring the burn of guilt on the back of his neck, Katsuki resumed cupping the other's face and rubbing Izuku's slightly swollen under eye with his thumb.
"No Kacchan. He LIKES you." The jade-eyed boy made a point to look directly into the crimson irises he memorized years ago as he spoke.
Lifting a single eyebrow nearly to his hairline, the older youth's heart began to beat a little faster with a sudden onset of nerves triggering his go-to defense: denial. "How the shit did you come to that dumbass conclusion?"
"All the stories you've told about him show it. How have you not noticed? I'm honestly shocked he hasn't asked you out already." Dropping his hand away from the face of the boy he still loved, Dynamight turned away to hide his guilt. The reaction put his counterpart on alert and he could almost hear the gears in the Nerd's overly astute brain turning.
After a few quiet and somewhat awkward moments, All Might's successor came to the only conclusion he believed possible. "He already did, didn't he?" Tightly shutting his eyes and nodding his head, Kacchan answered without words. "So, when is your date? I assume you said yes, I mean why wouldn't you? He's very handsome and he seems like a lot of fun. I don't know a lot about his Pro work but I'm sure he's very good if he works for Best Jeanist. Either way he was assigned as one of your coordinators so he-"
"Izuku." Freezing mid-ramble the greenette flushed. Looking down at his half empty mug of now cold coco, Midoria tried to make himself as small as possible until he felt a warm hand on the back of his head ruffle his soft curls. Looking up he saw something in the other's eye he had rarely ever glimpsed there. "Yeah. He asked me out. Wanted me to go to dinner with him tomorrow actually, but I turned him down."
