The next few days were a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation.

Every time my phone buzzed, I hoped it was a message from Jake. And more often than not, it was. We texted about everything-homework, favorite shows, funny memes, and more. Our conversations flowed easily, and it felt like I had known him forever.

At school, things felt different too. I noticed that popular girl whose name I learnt is Kate smith glancing our way when Jake and I talked in the hallways or during lunch. The whispers and curious looks were new to me, but with Jake's hand often brushing against mine, I found I didn't mind them as much as I thought I would.

One afternoon, as we were sitting under our usual tree in the courtyard, Jake brought up the drama adaptation I had mentioned. "So, I started watching 'Business Proposal' last night," he said, a playful grin on his face.

My eyes lit up. "Really? What did you think?"

He nodded enthusiastically. "I only watched the first two episodes, but I can see why you like it. The characters are great, and it's hilarious. I can't wait to watch more."

"See? I told you it's good!" I said, feeling a rush of happiness that he had taken my recommendation seriously.

"How about we watch a few episodes together this weekend?" Jake suggested. "We could make it a little marathon."

"I'd love that," I replied, my heart doing a happy dance at the thought of spending more time with him.

The weekend couldn't come fast enough. On Saturday afternoon, Jake came over to my house. My parents were thrilled to meet him, and after a brief introduction and some small talk, we settled into the living room with a bowl of popcorn and the TV remote.

As we watched the show, I was hyper-aware of Jake sitting next to me, our shoulders occasionally brushing. We laughed at the funny parts, gasped at the dramatic twists, and exchanged knowing looks during the sweet moments.

It was perfect.

During a break between episodes, Jake turned to me. "You know, I'm really glad we started hanging out, Lily. You're amazing."

I blushed, looking down at my hands. "Thanks, Jake. I'm really glad too."

The rest of the afternoon flew by in a blur of laughter, stolen glances, and more episodes. By the time Jake had to leave, I felt like I was walking on air.

As he stood at my door, I took his hand. "So, can I see you tomorrow? Maybe for a movie or something?"

He nodded eagerly with a smile "Absolutely." giving my hand a gentle squeeze. " I'll text you."

After he left, I sat in my room, replaying the day's events over and over in my mind. Everything felt perfect, almost as if too good to be true.

Over the next few weeks, Jake and I became inseparable. We studied together, watched more shows, went on little dates, and enjoyed every moment we spent with each other. My confidence grew, and I started to see myself through Jake's eyes-beautiful, capable, and worthy of love.

As time passed, the school began to buzz with the excitement of the upcoming spring dance. "spring formal" or "spring fling," is a social event typically held by school during the spring season. It is an opportunity for students to dress up, socialize, and enjoy a night of dancing and entertainment.
