If having a sweet tooth was one of the biggest crime one can commit. I might have been convicted for life imprisonment .

I've always had a penchant for sugary treats, a weakness that often seemed to define me. I've always been chubby, not exactly overweight but undeniably chubby. I was the kind of girl who was a good friend but never quite enough to be a girlfriend. Physical activities never interested me much; I preferred the comfort of my romance novels and the allure of a chocolate bar over sweating it out in the gym. Academically, I was average-never at the top of the class, but not at the bottom either. So, when the nerd asked me out, correction, the handsome nerd, I was utterly shocked.

The cafeteria was buzzing with chatter, the usual cacophony of clinking trays and lively conversations filling the air, yet my mind was a whirlpool of disbelief and excitement. I could hardly process a thing.

Wait, is he asking me out? My thoughts raced. He, a boy, and not just any boy, but a handsome one, asking me out? What the heck! Get your act together!

"So, what do you say?" His voice cut through my internal chaos, bringing me back to the moment.

I looked into his honey-brown eyes, a very common color, but in the golden hour, they seemed like they held the secrets of the universe. There was something mesmerizing about them, a depth that hinted at intelligence and kindness.

"Are you sure you're asking me?" I blurted out, my voice tinged with disbelief.

With one brow raised, he glanced around theatrically. "Does it seem like there's anyone else here?"

Following his gaze with my nervous glance, I confirmed, "No... nope."

"So, do you wanna go out with me?" he asked again, a small, confident smile playing on his lips.

"Yeah, sure, let's do it," I replied, trying to sound casual but probably failing miserably.

His smile widened at my response, a smile that made my heart flutter.

"Okay, meet me at 5 near the theater," he said.

"Cool," I managed to say, my voice a tad more steady.

And with that, we parted ways, the hum of the cafeteria returning to its usual blur. As I walked away, my mind raced with a thousand thoughts, excitement bubbling up inside me.

That's how I secured a date with the nerd. No, scratch that-the handsome nerd. The boy who made me feel like the most special girl in the world.
