Song Recommendation: Boyfriend by Dove Cameron

~Matt's POV~
"Will you just stop, Jason!? Not everything is about you." I hear Y/N quietly say to her boyfriend.
"Maybe if things were all about me, we wouldn't be at this stupid fucking party and we'd be having actual fun." He scoffs at her.
I chuckle in disbelief and Nick nudges my arm.
"What?" I ask, looking over at him.
"It's not funny." He whispers.
"I wasn't laughing because it was funny. I'm laughing because I can't see what she sees in him." I defend.
"Nobody can." He says, quietly.
I nod and look back over at them.
They're still arguing.
Eventually, Y/N walks away and goes to the bar. I watch her down a shot and walk over to the railing.
I look over at her boyfriend to see he's talking to a couple guys and is eyeballing someone across from him.
I could be a better boyfriend than him.
I could do the shit that he never did.
Up all night, I won't quit.
Thinkin' I wanna steal you from him.
I could be such a gentleman.
Standing up, I set my drink down on the table and walk over to Y/N.

~Y/N's POV~
"Can we not do this right now?" I groan.
"Fine, but this conversation isn't done." He huffs, walking away.
I roll my eyes and head inside to grab a drink.
"Just a shot please." I say to the bartender.
He nods and hands me a shot.
I throw it back, set the glass down and walk back out on the terrace.
I walk over to the guard rail, lean on it slightly and cover my face in my hands.
Why can't you just break up with him?
Groaning, I set my hands on the rail and look out to L.A.
"Are you okay?" I hear someone ask.
I look over to see Matt Sturniolo.
I chuckle and look back out to the city, "Define okay."
Realizing that probably sounded rude, I turn back and quickly apologize.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to come out as bitchy as it did. I'm just having boyfriend trouble." I say, softly.
"I saw." He whispers.
I look down at the city below.
"Can I ask you something?" He asks.
I nod and look back up at his ocean blue eyes.
"Why are you still dating him?" He asks, putting his hands on the rail.
Sighing, I look at my hands, "I don't know. Everything is a fight with him recently. We used to be fine but now I have no clue." I whisper.
"Rough patch?" He asks.
"Yeah." I say, quietly.
"I'm sorry." He says.
"It's okay." I sigh.
We stand there in silence for a couple minutes until we hear some commotion in the house.
Turning to look, I see that Jason is getting his shit rocked by someone else.
Can't we go to one party and be civil.
Sighing, I rub my eyes slightly and just stand there.
Matt looks over at me.
"Aren't you going to stop him?" He asks.
I shake my head, "He got himself into that fight, he can get himself out."
Matt chuckles and looks back over at Jason.
The fight gets broken up by a few people and once everyone is relaxed, Jason stomps over to me.
"Seriously? You just watched me get my ass handed to me and did nothing?" He whisper-yells at me.
Matt walks away a little but keeps an eye on us.
"I'm not your mother, Jason. Maybe if you weren't being such an asshole today, that wouldn't have happened." I snap.
He scoffs lightly and backs up a bit, "Oh, I'm sorry "Mrs. Queen Bee", I didn't mean to disrupt the equilibrium of the Y/N universe by defending you! He was talking about you and that's why I got mad." He defends.
"And what was it he was saying?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
He looks down at his hands and mumbles, "That you were hot and deserved better than me."
I laugh, "So, you got jealous. That's not my fault."
He looks back at me.
We stand there for a second in silence.
"Let's just go." I sigh.
He nods and we start to leave.
Before we go, I look over at Matt who waves slightly. I smile and wave back.
He could be a better boyfriend than him.
He could do the shit that he never did.
Up all night, he won't quit.
Thinkin' I want him to steal me from him.
He could be such a gentleman.
