The presentations took about all morning. And at the afternoon there was another conference with other designers and assistant's collections. There were about two or three conferences per day and it lasted a week, so let's say that the final collection launched worldwide was the product of about two hundred initial collections, which one of them was Alicia's and mine. Wow. I feel insignificant *sighs sadly*.
We all left the hangers, mannequins and portfolios in the room next door where every collection was to be stored. Then Rach, Nicole, Maggie, Richard and I left to grab a bite in the lunch room. I met all of them a few months back when I was transferred here. Rach is the one I get along with the most as we spend most of our time together at the office, although on weekends we all go out together. Nicole and Maggie are both in the Visual Merchandizing and Showcase Design department, they knew Rach before I arrived, and that's how I met them. And as for Richard, he is the shoe designer. He's been working for 8 years in the company so he is very popular around. Due to the age difference with us girls (he's 33) and the amount of friends and acquaintances he has on every department, he doesn't hang out much with us. Is not that he doesn't want to; it's just that he always seems so busy...
- Oh, hey Maggie. I have a candidate for you in the Marketing department. Twenty five years old, fresh out from college, Canadian. - Richard informed Maggie as he opened his lunch. See, this was a great advantage of being friends with him, as he knew everyone, he was like a "search bar" in which you entered your requirements and he searched through his mental data base of every worker of every department for what you were looking for in a guy. And no, he's not gay as you might be thinking; actually he is a lady's man, given his good looks and his great sense of fashion and style in general.
We spent lunch gossiping, talking and planning tomorrow's night out at this new bar that will be opening. We all then returned to our offices to continue with our work for the day. At five o'clock in the afternoon I grabbed my coat and my purse and left Rach who was doing some extra work in the office. I had to pick up some cloth samples and deliver some documents at a Magazine who was doing an article on our designs.
I arrived home at around 7:30, I called my parents, my sisters, talked with my nephews, called my aunts, and after catching up with half the population of Uruguay, I had a light dinner and went early to bed. I come from Uruguay, as you probably noticed, my parents Ruth and Enrique are back there. My sisters as well, Oriana and Mariana - who are both married and both have two kids each - and Briana, who's in a relationship but with no kids at the moment. My parents named the four of us ending with -riana: Mariana (the oldest), Oriana (the second oldest), Briana (the second smallest) and Ariana (the smallest one, me!). Mari is 31, Ori is 28, Bree (that's how it's pronounced) si 25 and I'm 24.
The next day was Saturday, I woke up late because obviously, and ran some errands after lunch. Then I did some grocery shopping before coming home and took a shower as soon as I arrived back.
I did my regular beauty routine (hair cleaning, body and facial cleaning and hydrating, etc), then started with my hair as I had to leave come curlers on (I know, very old fashioned), afterwords I painted my nails, did my makeup and finally got dressed. I wore a dark blue sequin short dress with an open back and black heels. Then I finished my hair, taking off the curlers and giving it the finishing touches.
I called a cab and as soon as I got in I texted Nicole I was already on my way. The cab picked her up from her house and we headed to the bar were Rach, Maggie and Richard where waiting for us. We headed inside the bar once we were all together. The place was great, it had one quiet zone where one could enjoy a drink and chat and two other loud-playing-music dance floors. We stayed for a bit in one of the dance floors just taking in the environment and then we continued to the quieter part. We ordered some Martinis as to start off lightly, then after a couple drinks, we ordered some mixes with Vodka.
