Chapter 12: New Element

Wade: I did say alone. The light is shining bright, we don't a shadow now.

Nat looked at him as she left and closed the door behind her.

Pepper: Wade, I've never seen you that hostile.

Wade: he's really trying, you know, to make it up to you. I know he has not been in the best mood, but he really is turning around.

Pepper: after what happened?

Wade: I gave Rhodey the suit, not you. Yet not a single mention of me anywhere.

Pepper: because to everyone, you're not at fault here.

Wade: with everything that's going on, I keep thinking that social services are gonna take me away from dad and you don't seem to care.

Pepper: I think it's best that you and Tony should be separated.

Wade: did you really just say that? Did I hear that right?

Pepper: Wade-

Wade: and here I wanted you to be my mother.

Pepper: what?

Wade: for a long while I kept waiting for you and dad to get together. So I could finally have a mother that does love me. Now you are doing what Carla did... try to take me away from the only family I have left. The only one who didn't push me away or try to exploit me or beat me up just because they felt like it. Wade gets up as he walks out.

Tony: why are we taking the model?

Wade: I'm good at riddles.

Tony went back inside as he looked at the model and caught on quick to what Wade meant. Wade and Tony did take the model home as they set it up in the basement.

Tony: Jarvis, could you kindly Vac-U-Form a digital wire frame? I need a manipulatable projection.

Jarvis: <scans the model> 1974 Stark Expo model scan complete, sir.

Tony lifted the projection up and brought it elsewhere.

Tony: how many building are there?

Jarvis: am I to include the Belgian Waffle stands?

Tony: that was rhetorical. Just show me.

Tony and Wade walked around the projection as Tony rotated it and put sideways.

Tony: uh-huh. Um... what does that look like to you, Wade? Not unlike an atom. In which case the nucleus would be here. Highlight the unisphere.

Tony makes the unisphere big as Wade looks at the model.

Wade: loose the footpaths. Get rid of them.

Jarvis: what is it you're trying to achieve, sir?

Tony: we're discovering... correction. We're rediscovering a new element, I believe. Lose the landscaping, the shrubbery, the trees.

Wade: parking lots, exits, entrances.

Tony: structure the protons and the neutrino using the pavilions as a framework. <rubs his face> Dad.

Tony threw his hands up and the sphere expanded as they looked around. Bobbi was watching them from the glass door.

Tony: dead for almost 20 years, and still taking me to school. And also is now taking you to school.

Wade: this is amazing.

Tony makes the projection to the palm of his hand.

Jarvis: the proposed element should serve as a viable replacement for palladium.
