"Yes Namjoon, I'll work on the contracts- if this place even has any fucking wifi," A voice grumbled. Sharp black eyes stared at the temporary home, squinting both due to the sun and the disgust he felt, "I don't know why they'd want to live here."

"Try not to be that ignorant, you need to get them on your side and that definitely won't work if you're acting like that, Jeon." Namjoon's voice spoke through the phone receiving a scoff from the mentioned man.

"The others were being nice and our plans got pushed back even more. I'll talk you later, I think they've finished moving my stuff in so I'm gonna go shower and unpack." Jeongguk let out a deep sigh after, biting on his pierced lower lip as he imagined what the next month or so would be like.

"Alright, get some rest and good luck."

Good luck? For what? It's not like we're gonna eat him. Taehyung raised his eyebrows as he leaned out of his window again, hips swaying behind and a pretty pout plastered on his face.

What was supposed to be a breath of fresh air after some reading turned out to be an eavesdropping session and how he first saw the young CEO. Taehyung had to admit, the man was beyond handsome.

I should go say hi, be a nice neighbour or whatever. Taehyung pulled away from the window, fingers brushing against the brick wall as he did so. He carefully made his way down the wooden stairs of his home and stepped outside to be greeted by the sunlight.

I should give him a present or something, fuck I'm dumb. Taehyung quietly groaned and pondered on what he could give. But, he didn't have much on him so he just decided to not give anything.

He walked up to the door beside him, knocking four times and then waited prettily with his hands held behind his back.

Great, someone's already here to protest. Jeongguk chucked his cigarette onto the floor of his garden and made his way back inside. He took a deep breath in to prepare himself for the speech he was going to receive before he opened the door.

He definitely was not prepared for the pretty blonde boy standing outside staring up at him with a sweet smile and warm beady eyes.

"Hi, I'm Taehyung- your neighbour. I thought I'd come say hello since we'll be living beside each other." Taehyung stuck his hand out, raising his eyebrows when Jeongguk just stared.

Holy fuck he's pretty. Jeongguk cleared his throat and quickly shook the boys hand.

"Nice to meet you Taehyung, I'm Jeongguk." He answered with his low voice.

"I was going to give a welcoming gift but I don't exactly have anything- but if you ever need anything I'm right next door," He beamed, "I'll leave you to settle down now, but if you'd like I could show you around town once you're available."

Jeongguk couldn't stop staring, "That'd be great. Thanks."

"No worries, see you whenever." Taehyung stepped back and waved goodbye as he walked back to his door, glancing back once to give another endearing smile.

Jeongguk slowly shut the door and let out a satisfied hum. Maybe there is something good about this village after all.

After that, he didn't think about the boy next door again. He sat himself down and began to go through some paperwork before he decided to continue unpacking and also shower.

Taehyung in the meantime sat on his couch, upper body hanging down from the sofa and tanned legs rested against the pale wall. He had a book in his hand which he read carefully until he was disturbed by the buzzing of his phone.

He picked it up, sighing when he saw it was from a no caller ID, "Hello?"

"Taehyung, I'm so sorry please let me- come on I'm your mu-"

Taehyung just ended the call and chucked his phone aside. He decided to sit up straight and lie down on the couch normally which is when he fell asleep eventually.

The sun slowly began to set, orange and pink hues now taking over the atmosphere and the warm lights from people's homes began to light up the street.

Jeongguk cracked his neck as he shut his laptop lid, sighing when he saw that it was dark now. His stomach rumbled which he couldn't fix as he had no groceries and nor did he know where to get food. He had spent most of the day napping after a shower and then on documents.

I should ask Taehyung, hopefully he's not too busy. Jeongguk stood up and made his way out of the door. It was quite warm outside so he didn't bother putting on a jacket, he just stepped outside in a sleeves black Calvin Klein top and some plain black trousers.

He enjoyed the breeze as he stood in front of Taehyung's door and knocked a few times. Jeongguk wondered if the boy was even home because of how long he was taking to answer it.

Finally it opened to reveal Taehyung frantically brushing his messy hair down with his fingers and smiling widely at the man.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

"Uh, I was just wondering if you could show me some places I could get something to eat?" Jeongguk stepped back when the boy nodded and didn't waste a second to step out.

"There's this really nice pizza place, it's not like Domino's and stuff so you might not like it, it's local! Oh and there are some restaurants like Italian, Greek and stuff," Taehyung explained as he walked beside the man who looked around the village with an unreadable expression, "We don't have any McDonald's here."

"I know, which is unfortunate and why I'm planning to rebuild- well not the main reason why."

Taehyung rolled his eyes, "McDonalds compared to the history etched into these walls is nothing."

"You're right, but it just means more money for the government. I'm not in charge of what shops go here, just the design of it," Jeongguk mumbled, "So, what's it like living here? Like what do you do daily?"

"Oh," Taehyung thought carefully, "Well I wake up and pray, and have breakfast usually at the bakery, then I read and nap. Then I might go on a walk or just play games on my phone, Jimin usually comes home from work by then and that's when I'll meet up with him before I sleep." Taehyung replied.

"Do you work?" Jeongguk asked.

"Yeah, I work at the bookstore down the street, it has a cafe too so you should try breakfast there." Taehyung smiled.

"You have a very simple and aesthetically pleasing life, do you not get bored of it?"

"No, I like the peace I have. Which I hope I'll continue to have when you don't take this whole village down."

"It's a project that got approved long ago by the council, I need to make it happen before I lose all that money I spent on it." Jeongguk replied carefully analysed Taehyung's reaction as he wanted to see how the villagers felt.

Instead of being met with rage and protesting, Taehyung just hummed, "I suppose that's fair, I'd just try to consider our happiness."

"I'm surprised you're calm, I expected a lot of protesting when I got here."

"Being angry does nothing, but when you see people being angry just remember that anger is another way to express frustration and sadness, which is what people feel about your project." Taehyung stopped in front of a pizza place and waved at the owner who threw his hand up too.

Jeongguk just admired his side profile for the few seconds he got and let out a chuckle, "I'll try to, but I'm more focused on the money and the recognition I'd get after this. Oh, you should go back now it's getting late."

"You're right, I'll see you later," Taehyung stepped back but paused before he decided to leave, "You should set your heart upon the work, not it's reward."

Jeongguk's raised his eyebrows in confusion and watched the boy walk away while waving at people that he passed by. Jeongguk had no clue what that meant, and he didn't care either since he'd rather focus on how pretty the boys figure getting further away was.

What an interesting person.
