After our week of detention, Gerard, Frank, Ray, Bob, Mikey, Abby and I became really good friends. We bonded over our love of music, and hate for Mr Beiber. I think Abby has a crush on Frank, as shes always staring and blushing. I ship it. Frabby. Abrank. Seriously though, OTP of the month.
During our detentions, the fact that I wasn't the best student became prominent, and Gerard offered to tutor me. I didn't think he was one for good grades, but he has mostly B's and a C or two, which would be great grades in my book. I agreed to let him tutor me every Friday after school.
Currently, I'm on my way to Gerard and Mikey's house to study. I didn't know that they lived so close to me, but their house is a few roads over from mine. It's about a ten minute walk, and I'm almost there. The Misfits are blasting through my headphones, and I'm loving every second of it. The volume is right at that level where you can't hear anything else, and it's like a big warm musical hug.
I arrive at the house and ring the bell. I hear it chime, and take this time to turn off my phone. I hear stumbling behind the door before Gerard opens it with a smile on his face.
"Hi! Here, come in," Gerard says, and steps aside so I can enter the cozy home, "lets go to my room in the basement." He leads me to a door, and we walk down the stairs behind it. At the bottom is a large room filled with comic books and dirty clothes. He sits on the bed, and I sit next to him, trying to ignore the bottle of lotion and box of tissues on his bedside table. I really hope those aren't for what I think they are. Ew Gerard. Just ew.
He takes a textbook off the nightstand, and starts to explain a bit of trigonometry. I think I'm starting to understand. He helps me finish my homework, and then we start on my homework for English.
When all my homework is finished, he invites me upstairs to watch a movie.
"Sure," I smile, and we go upstairs into the spacious living room. I sit on the couch while he selects a movie. The title screen to The Babadook comes on. (Ok, the Babadook is this stupid scary movie where a lady promises to read her son whatever book he wants, and he picks this one called The Babadook, and its about a monster and how he will eat your insides or whatever, and the kid gets really scared, and starts acting weird, then the Babadook becomes the woman or whatever, and yeah its weird, you should watch it its on Netflix.)
"Really Gee? The Babadook?"
"Oh shut up," he says jokingly. We watch the movie in silence and I'm too invested in the movie to notice Gerard's arm wrap around my shoulder. For some odd reason, I don't flinch away. I think this is the first real human contact I've had since my dad started abusing me. Before, I would freak out if my hand brushed against the Starbucks barista's hand as I handed her the money to pay for my drink.
I think that Gerard and his friends along with Abby are going to change me for the better.
Yes, super short chapter, I'm sorry. This is like half the size of my usual short chapters, but I felt like that was a good place to end the chapter. The next one will be longer, I promise.
