Since it was Friday I didn't have much to do after school ended, after the talk with soda I decided to apply for a job at the dingo.
Soda had told me he was gonna drop me off first thing in the morning, however plans changed since I think sandy and him were on a date.
Paul took me to apply.

"Hi are you still hiring?" I ask pointing to the "𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨!" sign on the window
A middle aged black woman who I figured was the manager walks over to the counter with a big smile, nearly touching the corners of her face

" Oh yes sugar! right on time!" She says shaking my hand eagerly

" How much do you pay hourly, I have school and I can only come by in the afternoons but I can work a full shift in the weekends."

" 16.43 hourly, we can raise it by a dollar." The lady says checking her checkbook
" That's perfect! When can I start?"
" Tomorrow, but it's busy during weekends."

" That's fine with me!"
"You'll learn the basics, it's just a visual learning you'll get the hang of it quickly!" She smiles and walks over to the back to search for something, she then comes by and she hands me the uniform which is white for the cashiers and a light pink dress for the waitress, the dress itself looking small.
" Oh don't you think it's too small?" I say examining the dress holding it out In front of me
"I'm sorry Darling that's the only one we have left." She said pointing at the dress with her pen
"It's alright I can work with it!" I laugh

"Sorry what was your name again? " I say smiling holding to the uniform

" Oh I'm sorry! I'm Rosetta Lynn! the manager, you can call Mama Rose or just rose!"

"I'm Y/N, Y/N Reed pleasure to meet you Miss Rose!"

Rosetta then hands me a bag including a pink notepad, with a white apron for the waist and a Pink pen with a cute charm on it.

"I'll see you tomorrow afternoon Miss Rosetta. "

Before leaving I turn around looking at Rosetta
"Thank you I really needed this job!"

"Oh baby, Thank you for applying!" She waves goodbye as I walk away

I walk around pacing near the entrance of the dingo waiting for Sodapop or Paul to pick me up, I couldn't blame Paul for being late he had his own things to do such as football.

As I walk on the sidewalk of the street a white thunderbird slows down honking I turn around flipping them off

" Fuck off!" I yelled since I didn't know who the random person was and what was the reason they honked at me.

After a few minutes I see Paul's car slow down to pick me up from the curb.

Paul still had his jersey on and looked so drained from practice
"I'm sorry I tried being early as possible, you know my coach." He says apprehensively

"It's okay Paul." I enter the car and lay my head on his shoulder as he drives

"I start tomorrow." I mumble but loud enough for Paul to hear

" You got the job?" He turns to look at me resting on his shoulder while keeping his eyes on the road.

"Mhm, I wanted to help out in the house since holidays are coming."

"And your birthday." He smiles placing a kiss on my lips

"Yeah, about that I'm just going to have a small party this Sunday for my birthday, I think I'm sharing it with Dallas."
