I wish you would hit me
To strike me across the face
Or slam my head into the wall
I wish I would find bruises and cuts littered across my skin
But you just sit there
Silently taking my outbursts
I know I hurt you
My lips throw hot acid
Burning your flesh
Then my eyes beg for your forgiveness
I should not be forgiven
I asked you once
"How can you love me?"
You sat there silently
Staring at the floor
Then finally
"Because you are my child"
Your eyes told me differently
They looked at me with hurt and anger
Your eyes held resentment
I know you hate me.
