ISABELLA

I wasn't a child having her first crush... I was an adult woman about to get married and somehow the sight of this man was enough to knock the breath out of my lungs.

His tattoos peeking out from rolled up sleeves was enough to elevate my pulse and I was sure my blood pressure spiked when our eyes met.

The air was charged but it would seem that we were the only ones who could see this.

"Shall we?" The deep rumble of his voice jolted me and I thanked God I was sitting far away from him although it wasn't far enough in my books.

"Are you okay?" Luca, who had taken a seat in front of me asked.

He looked amazing, like an absolute gentleman and...

Your husband, I reminded myself.

Of course I had to remember that and not let the estrogen and my stupidity get the better of me.

"I am fine... you look amazing" I told him.

He smiled, his eyes flashing with delight and I felt better about ogling his father while they walked in.

I turned to my food, making sure to not look in his direction even when I felt his gaze on my face.

We were in the middle of eating when a man ran in with a gun in his hand. He was covered in blood from head to toe and looked like he had had the shit beaten out of him.

My mother gasped, her hands flying to her mouth but I was more curious than afraid.

"What is the meaning of this, Dante?" Agosti rose, a gun in his hand.

Where the fuck had that come from? I thought

"Estamos siendo atacados" The man whispered urgently

I rose to my feet, my father and mother joining me.

"What is going on?" I asked

"I need you all to calm down and come with me" Agosti said instead.

"What the fuck is going on?" I asked again.

His eyes flicked to me in annoyance and I could see him then... the man he truly was underneath the facade of a doting father and philanthropist. He looked about ready to kill anyone that comes through the doors again and I watched his eyes soften.

"We are under attack" He announced.

My mother gasped again and I could see my father trying to hold her to his side before she collapsed.
