A quiet morning Carlos had left around 6 am for his shift he kissed Tk on the forehead before leaving Tk woke up and decided since it was his day off he would clean and do some things around Carlos's apartment since he was just staying over until Carlos got home at 3 they were gonna go to the farmers market to do some shopping and then dinner and a movie
he gathered the dirty clothes and started a load of wash and then washed the sheets as well he made the bed with fresh sheets and went off to vacuum when it came time to put some laundry away he opened Carlos's work drawer where all his uniforms were kept and placed his fresh washed ones in when he found a file he went downstairs to read through it
He heard the door open Carlos was home but he was too busy looking through the file
"Hey, baby," Carlos said
"Why do you have this Carlos ?" Tk said when Carlos walked through the door "What?" Carlos questioned as Tk threw the file on the counter
" you weren't supposed to find that ." Carlos said, "Wow look I understand that you're a cop but that doesn't mean that you can just invade my privacy ." Tk said walking upstairs as Tk followed him
" Sorry I was curious, I wanted to help.." Carlos said as tk got his overnight bag out of the closet putting his stuff in it
" don't leave ." Carlos said, "You had no right to snoop through my stuff ." Tk walked around the room grabbing the minimal number of items that he left at Carlos's place " I wanted to help make sure he never comes near you again. I wanted to protect you that's my job ." Carlos said
"I don't need you to fight my battles for me Carlos they are mine to fight I need you to just stay out of my shit."
" yeah cause you were so good at fighting your own battles when he almost beat you to death right ?" Carlos said Tk stood in awe for a second "Wow." tk said before picking up his bag " Tk don't leave ." Carlos said "C'mon." Carlos said
Tk slammed the door behind him
He stopped on the way home to get something that he knew always helped
When he got home his dad wasn't there at the moment so he took advantage he knew where the key to the liquor cabinet was
He got a bottle of vodka out pouring himself half a glass
He took the pills before getting rid of the evidence he went to his room and locked it before he laid down in his bed
Hours go past
10 missed calls - Los
Los- where are you
Los - I'm sorry
Los- are You okay
Los- tiger I'm really worried please call me and let me know if you are okay
Los - I know you are mad as hell just please don't ignore me
Nancy - Officer Mchotty told us you were sick and wouldn't be coming in today feel better buddy
Carlos opened the window before climbing in " Tk ?" Carlos asked, "What the hell ?" Carlos said, "Did you take something ?" Carlos said as Tk could barely let his eyes open "What the hell did you take?" Carlos asked " Oxy." Oxy "Now can you go?" Tk said clearly still high "You smell like Vodka." Carlos said
" so wanna make an investigation about this one too?" Tk said, " I'm tired leave ." Tk mumbled, "Let's go shower now before your dad notices." Carlos said Carlos practically dragged Tk to the shower before locking the door "You don't quit." Tk huffed "Not when it comes to you ." Carlos said
once they both were undressed Carlos put Tk under the shower spray "Are you mad ." Tk mumbled as Carlos washed his hair "No." Carlos said,
"I feel like you're mad ." Tk said, "Just let me help." Carlos said before he knew it Tk was getting himself dressed "Why did you take them" Carlos asked
" does it even matter ?" Tk shrugged getting up and leaving the bathroom
" yes, Tk it matters."
" because I didn't want to end up in the bathtub again," Tk said Carlos furrowed his brows out of confusion
Tk pulled him back in the bathroom to show him the tub "Sometimes I'll sleep in here sometimes the tub will be filled up and I hold myself underwater some nights won't stay at your place cause it doesn't have a tub and I need to sit in the tub." Tk admitted
"I never left that tub when he did what he did a part of me will always be there in that red bloody water ." Tk said, "So sorry that I don't want to see it in writing ." Tk said
" you can go ahead and lecture me for using after being clean for a few months go ahead let's get it over with," Tk said but Carlos just came over and hugged him Tk let go a few sobs in the crook of Carlos's neck
" I just ruined all my progress I don't want to have to start over again .." Tk said as Carlos rubbed his back "We are gonna do it together because that's what you do for the people you love ." Carlos said " I'm gonna help you because I love you tk strand
"You deserve better you deserve this-" Tk said as Carlos kissed his head "You are everything you are perfect just the way you are," Carlos said
"I wanna go to a meeting ." Tk admitted, "Okay then that's what we will do I can drive you ." Carlos said getting up from tks bed "I want you to do it with me ." Tk admitted
now they sat in this room with a bunch of other addicts
everyone went around and shared and when it came time for Tk to he stood up and said the words that he never wanted to have come out of his mouth the words that felt so foreign to his lips "My name is Tk and I'm one day clean ."
Everyone greeted him with a hello and he was given his 1 day chip when he sat back down Carlos intertwined their hands Tk rested his head on Carlos's shoulder Carlos planted a kiss on his forehead " I've never been more proud of you ."
He was back to day one but one day clean meant that he hadn't touched the pill that he had enough willpower to not take them that he felt safe and loved to the point where he wanted to go to a meeting yes it was day one but one of many to come he had so many reasons to stay clean now - he had a whole new family some but not all by blood but that was okay cause they were all connected
