"No panty lines!" she bellowed.
"Damnit," I cursed and I walked over to the drawer and rooted out some thinner, black, bikini type panties.
As I heard Laci gargling I was quick to pull on the dress.
"Are you ready," she questioned out loud as she opened my door.
As it turned to her, her eyes widened.
"Damn, girl!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise. "I forgot how curvy you are."
I blushed, unsure how to respond to her compliment.
She waved her hand dismissively. "Nothing, nothing. Come on, let's do your hair." She beckoned me behind her.
With my head hung low, I followed her into the bathroom and sat on a stool she had positioned in front of the mirror. At once, she began to comb and tease and tie my hair. As she worked, my mind wandered back to the past. I had been so focused on avoiding unwanted attention that I had forgotten how to embrace my femininity. I hadn't dressed in such a way in ages, not since before my "little problem" had escalated. For years, I'd been hiding my body in baggy clothes, afraid to draw attention to myself.
"Done!" Laci announced, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Wow, Laci," I breathed, stunned by my reflection. She'd transformed my hair into a sleek, high ponytail, a dramatic departure from my usual style.
"Oh, I almost forgot!" She dashed out of the room, returning a moment later with a pair of sleek, black combat boots. "These will be perfect!"
I hesitated, unsure about the bold choice. "I don't know, Laci..."
"Come on, Rosie! Trust me!" She pleaded, her eyes large, her lips pouting. "I just want you to have some fun, to forget about him! He does not deserve to ruin your fun! After all, we are only twenty once." She added.
With a sigh, I accepted the boots and slipped them on. As I secured the laces, Laci impatiently urged me to hurry, her hands making rushing symbols, her eyes darting at the window. I noticed she had my purse in her hands.
"I've packed your wallet and some gum," she announced as I stood, thrusting my bag into my hands. "Now let's go!"
I grabbed my keys and followed her out the door as she rushed away. A mixed feeling of excitement and apprehension swallowed me. I had not asked how we were getting to the place we were going. I usually rode the bus; but Laci felt the bus was odd and hated it. She usually had friends drive her around, but I did not know them, so when we reached the bottom floor or our building, and I caught sight of a new Audi waiting, I assumed it was in the wrong spot, lost, or maybe looking for directions. My heart dropped as Laci ran up to the door and knocked on the window.
"John Mark!" She chirped as the window rolled down. "It's me and my friend!"
"Come on in," I heard the door locks click.
Laci yanked the door open and sat in the car without a care in the world.
I, meanwhile, stood frozen.
"Rosie, come on, get in the car." Laci's voice drew out a bit as she sat in the front seat of the odd looking car.
I was frozen as I stared at the door. I didn't wanna go, but I had promised her.
"Yeah.... I'm coming," I sighed as I walked up to the back seat, opened the door, and slid inside. My heart pounded as I caught a clear view of the man in the driver's seat.
"Uhmmmm, hi...." I croaked awkwardly at the man.
His hair was a bit long and skillfully tied up into a sort of bun.
