Hanna's body stiffens suddenly. Landon sees the fear in my eyes and looks at me closely. Then I see his eyes widen too.

I feel a shiver run down my spine at the sight of Landon, my archenemy from the past. His presence here, in my workplace, feels like a slap in the face. My hands clench into fists as I glare at him with barely concealed contempt.

"Hello, kitten. Nice to see you again," he says with a mocking undertone, as if he's enjoying my discomfort. My mouth feels dry as I struggle to find a polite response. "What are you doing here?" I hiss eventually, my voice dripping with disgust. Lotte looks back and forth between us, her eyes wide with surprise. "Wait, do you guys know each other?" she asks, her voice full of confusion.

I can see the disdain in Landon's eyes as he looks at me unflinchingly. "Oh yeah, we know each other all too well," he says with a grin that makes my blood boil. "We used to... how should I put it... not exactly be best friends." "That's an understatement," I mutter, gritting my teeth as I try to suppress the memories of our endless quarrels. Lotte looks from him to me, her eyes wide with surprise. "But why didn't you tell us you knew him?" she asks, her tone accusatory. I take a deep breath, my hands trembling with suppressed anger. "Because I'd rather keep him as far away as possible," I hiss through clenched teeth, my voice a whisper of pure hostility.

Landon's grin widens at my words, as if he's relishing my discomfort. "Well, that's a shame, kitten. I was looking forward to our little reunion," he says with a mocking undertone.

I narrow my eyes at his nickname for me, my anger fueling with every sarcastic remark that comes out of his mouth. This day will be a battle, that's for sure. And I won't rest until I've banished him from my life again, where he belongs.

As I focus on suppressing my bubbling emotions, I notice that Lotte remains seemingly unfazed. She smiles broadly at Landon, as if she doesn't realize how uncomfortable the situation is.

"What brings you here, Landon?" she asks, her curiosity undiminished.

Landon grins, a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. "Oh, I'm here to help with the case," he replies, his voice innocent but his eyes saying something entirely different.

I can't resist making a sarcastic remark, but I bite my tongue, knowing it would only be fuel for his teasing.

However, Lotte seems oblivious to any hint of tension between us. She smiles at Landon as if he's an old friend, not the person I'd rather stay as far away from as possible.

As we enter the office, I feel more determined than ever to put Landon in his place. But I also know it won't be easy. This day will be a challenge, that's for sure. And I'll do everything in my power to make sure Landon regrets ever reappearing in my life.

Landon's Perspective

When I saw Hanna standing there, her face twisted with disdain at my presence, I couldn't help but grin. It was like taking a walk down memory lane, back to the time when we drove each other to madness with our endless quarrels and teasing. The fact that she could barely conceal her anger only made it more tempting. "Hello, kitten. Nice to see you again," I teased her, enjoying the look of disgust she shot me.

Her reaction was exactly as I expected, her voice dripping with contempt as she asked, "What are you doing here?" I suppressed a chuckle as I looked at her, relishing her discomfort. "Oh, you know, just some lawyer stuff," I replied casually, knowing my presence was irritating her.

Lotte looked back and forth between us, her eyes wide with surprise. "Wait, do you guys know each other?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion.

I shot Hanna a meaningful look before answering, "Oh yeah, we're old acquaintances, shall we say."

Hanna's reaction was exactly what I had hoped for, her eyes flashing with fire as she muttered, "That's an understatement."

I couldn't help but grin as I looked at her challengingly. "But let's just say we... have history," I added with a wink, enjoying her discomfort.

Lotte still seemed confused as she looked between us. "But why didn't you tell us you knew him?" she asked Hanna, her tone accusing. I couldn't help but let out a soft laugh as I watched Hanna explain, "Because I'd rather keep him as far away as possible."

That remark sparked a wave of amusement in me. It was refreshing to see that she was still so irritated by my presence. And honestly, I found it quite entertaining
