The room fell into a hushed silence as Jasper settled into his seat, his eyes distant as he delved into the depths of his memories.

"I was born in Houston, Texas, in 1843," Jasper began, his voice soft yet filled with the weight of centuries-old memories. "My human name was Jasper Whitlock, and I grew up on a small farm with my family."

He paused, his gaze flickering to the fire as he recalled the idyllic days of his youth, when life was simpler and filled with the promise of the future. But those days were long gone, replaced by the darkness that had come to define his existence.

"My life changed forever when I joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War," Jasper continued, his voice tinged with sorrow. "It was there that I met Maria."

Theo listened intently, his heart heavy with empathy as Jasper recounted the events that had led to his transformation. He couldn't imagine the horrors Jasper must have endured, both on the battlefield and at the hands of Maria.

"Maria was a vampire, and she saw something in me—a potential for power that she could exploit," Jasper explained, his voice growing colder as he spoke of his former mistress. "She turned me into a vampire and trained me to be a soldier in her army."

But my time in the army brought out another side of me," Jasper continued, his voice taking on a darker edge. "A side I call the Major."

Theo's eyes widened with fascination as Jasper spoke of his alter ego. He had heard whispers of the Major, the fierce and formidable persona that lurked beneath Jasper's calm exterior.

"When the Major takes over, my eyes turn dark crystal black," Jasper explained, his voice distant as he recalled the times when his other self had taken control. "He's ruthless and unforgiving, a product of the violence and chaos of war."

As Jasper's story came to an end, a sense of awe filled the room. His journey was a testament to the power of resilience and the strength of the human spirit, and Theo couldn't help but feel grateful to have him as a part of his family.
