This morning had started like a dream, with my cat Joey showering me with affectionate wake-up calls, and my mom's delicious breakfast filling the air with warmth and comfort. Even a brief conversation with my dad had brightened my day, a rare occurrence that left me feeling grateful for the fleeting connection.

Justin had been unusually attentive, an extra layer of joy to the day. And let's not forget the best part: my triumph over Dylan in our lunchtime game. He tried to argue that I didn't win fair and square, but come on, we all know who the real champ is here.

But just as I basked in the glow of a perfect day, it all came crashing down with Grayson's stupid attitude. I couldn't understand why he refused to accept my decision to end our tutoring sessions. It seemed like he didn't want to help me anymore either, so why was he insisting on continuing?

As Grayson's piercing blue eyes bore into mine, I felt an unusual sensation wash over me. Normally, I wasn't one to hold prolonged eye contact, especially not when tensions were running high, but Grayson had a talent for locking eyes in a way that was disarming, almost unsettling.

There he stood, towering over me, his presence commanding attention. He had grown bigger and stronger since the last time we had been this close, and there was an undeniable air of mystery about him that I couldn't quite shake. Despite my efforts to break the eye contact, I found myself unable to look away, drawn in by the intensity of his gaze.

Despite my inner desire to maintain distance and assert myself, I found myself unable to break his intense gaze. It was as if his eyes held me in a captivating trance, rendering me powerless to look away or speak up.

Then, in a move that caught me off guard, Grayson's eyes flickered down to my lips

What was that about?

Just as the tension between us reached its peak, a familiar voice broke the silence. "Oh... am I interrupting something?"

Panic surged through me as I scrambled to compose myself. Leslie's puzzled expression only added to my anxiety. Her eyes darted between Grayson and me, her raised eyebrows a silent question hanging in the air.

I could practically feel her curiosity radiating from her as she took in Grayson's presence.

I offered her a smile that felt more like a grimace, waving at her in a feeble attempt to appear casual, mentally kicking myself for forgetting about our plans for the party. I had invited her over to help me with my outfit and stay the night. But I hadn't anticipated that this tutoring session would stretch on for so long, trapping us in this awkward situation.

I glanced at Grayson, realizing he's standing uncomfortably close to me, and couldn't help but feel a pang of unease. In the context of our recent argument, his proximity seemed inappropriate, especially with Leslie watching us like a hawk.

And then there was Grayson himself- the guy who seemed to command respect and fear from everyone at school. Leslie didn't know that he had once been my closest friend, or that he was currently helping me with math.

I took a cautious step back from Grayson, hoping against hope that if I stood perfectly still, I could somehow blend into the background and escape.

But as Leslie's eyes narrowed, suspicion radiating from her like heat from a bonfire, I realized that my attempt at invisibility was futile "What's going on...?" she trailed off, also smiling awkwardly while still holding the doorknob.
