Chapter 4: Bullets and Blame

Coiny looked at her, as though he was going to say something but then his face became very concerned.

"No wonder, Leafy you're bleeding!" He exclaimed.

"Huh?" Leafy looked at her left arm to see a worrying amount of blood staining through her jacket.

"Must've been when I felt something knock me over," she said thoughtfully.

"You're pale," Gelatin noticed.

"Look, take off your jacket and let me see," Coiny sighed.

Leafy obliged and removed her stained jacket so Coiny could get a look at her wound.

The next few minutes that followed consisted of Coiny wretching from the gore and trying to control himself.

"And that's why you're not the medic," Blocky teased.

"Shut up, it's literally really bad," Coiny defended.

"Hey, maybe I could take a look? I have a bit of medical experience," Tennisball spoke up.

"Sure, just don't vomit," Leafy said, glancing at Coiny.

"I didn't vomit!"

Leafy put out her arm and Tennisball examined it.

It was pretty bad, the bullet was deep in there and it would take a bit of work to get it out, nothing he could do in a dirty place like this.

"I'll wrap it up to staunch the blood, the less you lose the better and then when we get back, I'll be able to try patch you up," he assured.

"Thanks TB, I appreciate it," she smiled softly.

"Just try keep your arm raised a little and no major movements," he instructed.

"We should take the long way back, that way you won't risk hurting yourself on the trains," Blocky butted in.

"But that takes forever," Leafy whined.

"I think it's worth it, don't want you fainting," Tennisball nodded.

"Yeah, you need to be at your best when you have that talk with the Hot Head," Coiny grinned.

"Ugh, don't remind me," Leafy groaned.

"Fine, let's head back,"

...

When they were finally back, Golfball let Tennisball bring Leafy down to the lab to fix her arm, her worry was very clear on her face.

"Hm, so she isn't totally self centered," Tennisball thought to himself.

It took a while to get her arm bandages and make sure any other wounds were taken care of but the longest thing was getting her to wake up from the local anesthetic she needed to be put under.

Coiny, being the amazing friend that he is, made certain she was going to be alright by the time Firey decided to drag his worthless ass home.

Coiny just really wanted to see him finally get chewed out.

Leafy went to go put her jacket into the wash room and everyone sat around as they usually did during the evenings.

By the time she finished washing her jacket, it was late and after leaving it to dry, she made her way down the main staircase but stopped around halfway when the front door opened.

"Hey Leafs!" Firey greeted.

He was met with folded arms and a sharp glare that sent a shiver down his spine.

"I think we need to have a little talk, Firey," she said in such a terrifying voice that even the biggest, most macho person every would be scared.

"Oooh, Firey's in trouble," Gelatin said in a sing song voice while Blocky snickered behind him.

"You'll be too if you don't stop gawking," Leafy snapped, causing them both to shut up.

By now, most people in the group poked their heads out of whatever room they were in to see what was going on and this further irritated Leafy.

"I am not asking for an audience, you idiots," she muttered.

"What's uh...what's going on?" Firey chuckled nervously.

"Get in the kitchen, right now," she demanded, pointing in the direction.

"I'm really confused, seriously," Firey responded, staying where he was.

"You'll find out, just get in there or else I'll drag you," Leafy glared.

Her eyes were piercing and poisonous as she scowled down at him, Firey looked like a deer in headlights as he turned and walking into the kitchen.

"Get back to what you were doing or something," Leafy scowled as she made her way down the stairs.

Everyone jumped as the kitchen door slammed and Ruby shook her head.

"I pity him, I really do," she muttered.

"Poor guy is in for it," Lollipop agreed.

"He deserves it, he can't just half ass stuff," Coiny said, failing to hold back his smile.

"Jeez, you scare me sometimes," Pin frowned.

"Ah, don't worry about it," Coiny said as he put his arm around her.

"By the way dude, where did you go during the fight? You just like, disappeared," Blocky wondered.

"I got into the building and I managed to break the grid, no biggie," Coiny said proudly.

"Aw yes, nice work man," Blocky cheered as the two high-fived.
...

It was the middle of the night, the whole house was quiet, everyone was asleep and the only sound that could be heard was the occasional creaking of a floorboard.

Tennisball couldn't get any rest, no matter what he did, he was too hot and too cold at the same time and he just couldn't find a comfortable position.

Feeling defeated, he got up and went downstairs to get himself some water, something he usually did when he couldn't sleep to try and take his mind off the fact that he would feel like crap in the morning.

Once he was done, he left, ensuring he closed the door as quietly as he could when he noticed a faint sound coming from the living room as well as a soft light.

He walked in to go turn off whatever it was but to his surprise, there was Firey sitting on the couch, watching the TV, although his mind seemed to be elsewhere and the room smelled faintly of smoke.

"Oh hey TB, what's up?" Firey yawned.

"Just got myself some water, I couldn't sleep," he replied.

"Oh sorry, did I wake you?" Firey asked, turning to look at Tennisball.

"No but I'm wondering why you're here, it's almost three in the morning," Tennisball said, looking at the clock on the wall.

"Oh, ya know, just...because..." Firey trailed off.

Tennisball looked at him expectantly and Firey looked away, his cheeks pink with embarrassment.

"Just wanted to sleep on the couch," he mumbled.

That's when it clicked for Tennisball and suddenly he felt bad for the guy, sitting on the couch that wasn't exactly the most comfortable in the world.

"Did Leafy make you sleep here?"

"Yep,"

An awkward tension hung in air as Tennisball noticed Firey scowl slightly and after bidding a rather awkward goodnight to him, he left.

Firey was alone downstairs with only the muffled noise of the TV to make him drift off.

He didn't get much sleep that night.
