Chapter 4: Bullets and Blame

"If you try and tell someone what to do, most of the time they won't do it, if I want her to change then it'll have to happen in her own time and no one else's, that's just how it is sometimes," Tennisball replied, looking out at the city.

"I'm still gonna look out for ya buddy, it's just plain mean," Gelatin mumbled before he jumped down and began his descent.

With that, Tennisball hurried down quickly however, he missed the last five rungs and landed on his back with a thud.

Blocky offered him a hand to help him up but Tennisball refused, saying that if he wants to do anything in this group, he needs to be able to help himself at least.

Gelatin called out to them, telling them to hurry up and the three of them ran down the dark streets, jumping wire fences and walls to get to where they were going.

"We gotta get there quicker if we don't wanna be spotted, being in a group like this means quick work," Gelatin said as he ran beside Tennisball.

"How are you with trains?"

"Huh?"

When Gelatin had asked that question, Tennisball had no idea what he meant, assuming he just wanted to know his opinions on the city's public transport system.

Boy, was he wrong.

"You want me to do what!?" Tennisball yelled over the strong rush of wind.

"Jump," Gelatin replied as though it were obvious.

"I know that but you want me to jump onto a moving train, are you crazy?!" Tennisball yelped.

"Just a little bit," Gelatin grinned, putting his thumb and index finger together.

"It's not that hard, there's a train that kinda slows down here, that's where most of us did our first train ride," Blocky smiled.

"It's coming now, you gotta jump when I say so or else you'll be stranded and there's not another one for an hour at least," Gelatin warned

"I'll push him, don't worry," Blocky cackled.

"Don't you dare!" Tennisball snapped.

Blocky shrugged and Tennisball turned away, scowling slightly.

"I just don't want to-AGHH"

Thud.

The wind whipped around him as he stayed flat against the roof of the train, shaking violently as he gripped the surface.

"YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T PUSH ME!" Tennisball accused.

"Never actually said anything," Blocky replied after he had landed on his feet, making Tennisball feel jealous of how easy he made it look.

"You need to stand up, otherwise getting off this thing will be way harder than getting on," Blocky said.

With his whole body feeling like jelly, very slowly and his heart beating a mile a minute, Tennisball stood up.

"See? It's not so bad," Gelatin said, giving a thumbs up.

Tennisball didn't respond, terrified that if he moved at all, he would plummet onto the tracks.

"Everyone starts out like you, I nearly died when I tried for the first time," Gelatin said kindly.

"I think Coiny and Leafy are the only ones who didn't struggle, according to Golfball at least," Blocky mused.

"Speaking of those two, they're getting really impatient," Gelatin hummed, seeing that there was an incoming communication from Leafy.

"Where the hell are you guys!?" Came Coiny's voice.
