I enter the double doors to hell, and follow Abby into the office, where she is handed a timetable. I take it from her immediately and look it over. She has Mr Fuentes first period, Mr Carlile second, Ms Jardine third, and Ms Ballato fourth. She then has lunch for fifth period, and Gym with Mr Bieber, and Music with Mr Gaskarth. (Guys don't hate me for the gym teacher, not all of the teachers could be amazing. Bieber evens it out, so we have one sucky teacher)
"We have all the same classes! Just a warning, our gym teacher is a total bitch," I laugh. She nods, and we walk towards Mr Fuentes' science room.
When we get there, I notice everyone is already in a seat.
"Sorry we're late Mr Fuentes. I was with Abigail in the office, she's new," I explain.
"It's cool. You two can go sit at the desk in the back," he informs, so we walk to our assigned seats and sit down. The lesson begins with our teacher explaining some sciencey stuff I don't understand. It's not that I'm not focusing, because I am, I just don't understand. He mentions protons, and I think I know that word. He continues talking, and I realize, I do not know that word. The rest of the class continues like this, until the bell rings, signaling us to leave.
I stay where I am for a minute while Abigail starts to get up.
"Aren't you coming to the next class?" She asks.
"Yeah, just wait a minute. I don't like the crowded halls. None of the teachers care if I'm late except for Mr Bieber," I say.
"Oh ok. That's cool, I'll wait with you," She says. We wait until a few people enter Mr Fuentes' class to leave. We walk to Mr Carlile's English class, and sit in the back.
"Ok class! Today we're going to discuss Of Mice & Men," he says, pulling a stack of books off his desk. (you see what I did there ;))
He passes out the books, and I open mine and start to read. I can't seem to focus on the book, and I end up reading the same paragraph over and over again. Why do we have to read this book? Why can't we just analyze song lyrics instead, that counts as English.
After 45 minutes of the boring class, we're dismissed. As always, I wait a minute or so before leaving for Ms Jardine's class. Abby and I get there without incident, and slip into the back of the class. Ms Jardine nods at me knowingly, and continues the math lesson. She talks about trigonometry, but I don't get it. Cos, sin, tan, what's the point in learning this? When will I use this?
45 minutes later, I'm in Ms Ballato's class. Hers is always my favorite. I kind of understand Social Studies, but I still have some issues. Ms Ballato talks about the Holocaust, and I pay full attention. I know it was a horrible thing to happen, but I love learning about the Holocaust, there is always some new interesting information. It always seems really morbid when teachers ask what I like to learn about, and I have to tell them I love to hear about the Holocaust.
When the class ends, Abigail and I walk to the cafeteria. I try to avoid buying school lunch, but I'm hungry, so I get in the line. A lady gives me a tray with a slice of greasy pizza and a small piece of bread, and I put my student number in the machine to pay.
We take our trays to an empty table, and start eating.
"So, are there any cute boys at this school? It seems like it's all jerky jocks," Abigail asks.
"Nope. Just jerky jocks and jerky jock wannabes," I answer truthfully.
"Wow that sucks."
"Yeah." I finish my lunch, and put the tray away before heading to the girls locker room with Abby. We change into the ugly school gym uniforms and walk out into the gym where Mr Bieber is waiting for everyone.
A few girls are crowded around him, flirting too hard. It's not like he doesn't like it though, he loves the attention. He just stands there with his overly-hairsprayed hair, enjoying watching the under-age girls throw themselves at him.
He instructs us to go outside and run laps, but instead Abby and I go hide behind the bleachers.
"Do you want a cigarette?"She offers, holding one out in her hand.
"No, thank you. I don't smoke." I say and Abby shrugs, before lighting her own cancer stick. She smokes while I watch for the rest of the class, and we go back inside and change back into our regular clothes. We then proceed to music class with Mr Gaskarth.
"Ok guys! Just do whatever, as usual. I'll be over here skyping my boyfriend." Mr Gaskarth instructs, opening skype to call his boyfriend, Jack. I'm pretty close with Mr Gaskarth. Last year, kids were starting to bully me, so I ate lunch with him in here. I've met Jack a few times over skype, he's pretty funny, and I totally ship them.
The class ends too quickly for my liking, and I grab my backpack from off the floor, and start to leave a few minutes after the bell sounds. When I leave the room, I see a few people still at their lockers. Our school allows us to carry backpacks, so I chose to do that instead of having to deal with the horrid metal spaces.
Abigail and I walk back home, and I separate from her as we pass my house.
"Bye Abby,"
"Bye Hayley. See you tomorrow," She says, walking to her house. I walk to my front door, and enter quietly. I manage to slip upstairs without my parents noticing.
The room awaits me, with the same dark blue walls with glow in the dark stars and band posters. I slide my shoes off, and lay down in my bed. I grab my laptop from near the foot of the bed, and start scrolling through tumblr. I spend the rest of the day like this, not bothering to go downstairs for dinner, I know there won't be any.
This is dedicated to @JustAnEmoFangirl because she is Abigail, and she's also super cool, go read her stories.
