Chapter 9: Disappearnces In School
It was Friday, the next day. 9:25AM.
After the first period of class had ended, CatNap and DogDay left. In the hall, they heard the other students talking about the same thing.
“Have you heard that some of the students aren't coming to class anymore all of a sudden?” One critter said, “4 of them just stopped yesterday.”
“Huh, yeah, one of them is my friend.” Another critter replied, “What was his name? Man, it's been a while since we last spoke.”
“I'm sure you'll remember his name soon.”
CatNap and DogDay looked at each other confused.
“So… 4 of us here just vanished?” DogDay wondered,
“I hope one of us didn't…” CatNap said,
“Nah, we've seen them all yesterday, well KickinChicken was on a Wednesday…”
“And Hoppy told us that she and him were doing good.”
“Hmmm… Let's go find Bubba during lunch. He told us to meet here again at lunch today.”
“Got it.”
It was lunchtime, 12PM. CatNap and DogDay were eating lunch with Bubba. CatNap was eating fish stick, DogDay was eating chicken fingers while Bubba was eating macaroni and cheese with a garlic breadstick as a side.
“Where's Boddy and Picky at?” CatNap wondered,
“Both are eating lunch after us with Kicken and Hoppy.” Bubba replied,
“Oh, right… They're seniors while we're juniors.”
“Yes, yes they are…”
Bubba took a bite from his breadstick.
“It's nice to have lunch with you guys.” He said, “Sometimes I get a bit lonely without CraftyCorn…”
“Don't worry, we have your back, Bubba!” DogDay said,
Bubba smiled.
“I appreciate it.” He said,
“So… You wanna have a meeting with us here at lunch, so here we are.” CatNap said,
“Y-Yeah, what do you want to talk about?” DogDay wondered,
“Well three things. First, this Duel Monsters tournament thing that's currently still accepting applications. I signed up for it just recently.”
“Oh, that's great!”
“Are you two still having thoughts about it?”
“Yeah, we're still thinking about it.”
“Yeah…” CatNap said,
“Ok, whas the next thing, Bubba?”
“You two are still going to that house party Hoppy invited you both to, yes?” Bubba wondered,
“Yeah! We don't know what's gonna happen there, but we're going!”
“Mhmm…” CatNap replied,
“And what's the last thing, Bubba?”
Bubba straightened his glasses and acted serious.
“Have you two heard recently that four students have disappeared yesterday?” He asked them,
DogDay and CatNap were surprised.
“We heard other students talking about it after each period of class ending.” CatNap replied,
“Yeah, what caused them to disappear?” DogDay wondered,
“Beats me.” Bubba replied, “It's a mystery that just started.”
CatNap was surprised as he saw someone familiar.
“Oh, great.” He said, “He's here.”
KickinChicken was there.
“Isn't he a senior?” DogDay wondered,
“He is, but he just likes to wait early for lunch here.” Bubba replied,
“Great…” CatNap said as KickinChicken looked at him, causing CatNap to gasp, “Oh crap, he's looking at me.”
“Eye contact…” Bubba said, “Sometimes it's your worst enemy…”
KickinChicken walked over to CatNap, DogDay and Bubba's table.
“Been a while you guys!” He said to him,
“Hello, Kicken.” Bubba said, “What brings you here this time?”
“I just want to say hi to you guys, that's all!”
“Doesn't sound like it.” CatNap said, “It sounds like you're here to try and piss me off again.”
KickinChicken chuckled a bit.
“Well, look at the cat dragging himself into this mess again.” He said, “And again once he and DogDay go to our party planned by a friend of my girlfriend's.”
“Well, even though you hate our guts, at least you care so much about Hoppy…” Bubba said,
“Well she hates your guts as well.” KickinChicken said, “And I can't blame her.”
Bubba sighed.
“Right…” He said,
KickinChicken looked at CatNap and DogDay.
“I'll see you two at the party tonight.” He said, “If you don't show up, then whatever, we don't give a damn about you two anyways.”
KickinChicken turned around and walked away. CatNap sighed in relief.
“Well, that's one part done.” He said, “Now I gotta wait until tonight for the second part…”
“And if anything happens, I'll be there for you.” DogDay said,
“Thanks.”
