—growing up, izuku never felt different from those around him.

he was an average kid for the most part. a sweet, caring, empathetic boy. being so overwhelmingly selfless, he enjoyed making others happy. some could even argue that he'd put others above himself, it was admirable.

if one were to ask, many would say izuku did not have a cruel bone in his body. izuku loved helping others, he wouldn't hurt a fly.

and that was true.

well, it was until sometime after his fourteenth birthday.

izuku celebrated turning fourteen like any other teen, with his mother in the comfort of his home. it wasn't much, yet izuku was overwhelmingly grateful for his mother's efforts, who was he to complain?

yet it was only a few months after that day that things began to... change within izuku. three months, to be exact.

izuku had woken up that day with an ache in his teeth. though, he didn't bother his mother about it. izuku figured the woman was busy enough with work, he didn't want to interrupt that by complaining about a toothache. the woman was already very worrisome, she'd always miss work when izuku was sick. izuku didn't like the idea of causing his mother stress and so he kept silent about the matter.

ignoring the pain, izuku had gotten ready for school as usual. after briefly eating and telling his mother goodbye, izuku had set off for school, he rode the bus.

izuku was a third year in middle school. his grades were above average and he remained focused in class. izuku was a hard worker.

though, not everyone noticed that.

while many people adored the sweet boy, some simply didn't like the green-haired boy. there was no particular reason why they did not like him, perhaps it was his looks or his unrelenting kindness that made him an easy target.

if you were to ask the boy if he was bullied, he'd likely say no. though, the reality of his situation told otherwise.

sitting in class, izuku was idly poking his aching teeth with his tongue, writing down his schoolwork. it was silent up until he could feel a lightweight object hit the back of his head quickly.

izuku flinched as the small object broke his concentration instantly. looking down at the floor, he could see a small paper ball. the boy scoffed to himself before turning briefly. sat in the back of the class were three boys, the three presented as alphas within their second years. they were the only alphas amongst all third years within the school.

most kids izuku's age had already presented as either omega or betas. this naturally led to a divide within the class. betas tended to hang out with other betas, same for omegas and alphas.

izuku, on the other hand, was a late bloomer. he had yet to present any secondary sex. he didn't fit in with anyone, no one knew what he was, and neither did he.

perhaps that was the reason he was singled out a picked on.

sighing softly, izuku rolled his eyes at the alphas. he found it ironic how those with the most dominant secondary sex behaved so infantile.

with that, izuku was left alone. well, that was for a short while before he felt yet another paper ball hit his head. though this time, it did not stop at paper. immediately after, a pencil came in contact with his head sharply.

izuku winced at the pain of a pencil flying at him at such a speed. he sucked his teeth at this, gripping his pencil tightly, unknowingly breaking the wood.
