So maybe I'm crazy, but unlike every other damsil-in-distress teen, I wasn't nervous on  my first day of high school. People sepnd hours trying on different outfits and  and hairstyles, while I picked out my outfit 10 minutes before the bus arrived. Girls spend over an hour prefecting their hair and makeup, whereas I spend 10 minutes. A simple ponytail, eye liner, and chapstick will do the trick. I'm no fan of makeup. So, the topic of this discussion will be makeup. Why do teenage girls find it so important to coer themselves up with cosmetics? Is it because they are trying to hide imprefections such as pimples? Do they apply mascara to add definition to their lashes? to me, it seems that there are 3 possible reasons to apply makeup:

1) impress someone

2) mask imprefections

3) try to add definition to their facial features

So why does the majority of the female population feel that makeup is a necessity? Is it becasue some girls/women feel that they are unattractive in appearnce? Makeup has the ability to change a person's physical appearance. Simple.

Makeup + girl = pretty

No makeup + girl = ugly?

Some girls are blessed with beauty. I'm not necessarily one of those girls. I view myself as average, although my friends beg to differ. I used to have long light blonde hair and grey eyes, and I was always misinterpreted as a dumb blonde. I decided to die my hair jet black. With black hair and pale skin, my eyes give off a white-grey color. Makeup is not at the top of my priority list. Why? Simply because I want people to see me for who I naturally am, and not what I want to be.

What's your opinion? Do you prefer natural beauty, light makeup, or heavy racoon eyes? Do you wear makeup to describe your personality? In my school, cheerleaders wear pink eyeshadow and clear lip gloss. Scence/emo/goth girls prefer dark eye makeup. It all depends on your style, your personality, and what you think of your appearance.
