“You look like a hooker,” Greg told Lacy bluntly without preamble.
“Just your type, then,” she responded serenely, floating off again with Ian to the back to experiment with tattoo paint.
Greg watched her leave with wide eyes and I snickered.
“Sore?” the tattoo artist asked Chance, packing away his supplies. Chance rolled his shoulder, flexing his arm and glared at the guy’s unsympathetic face.
“It makes you look hot, Chance,” Carmen complimented, one slim hand stroking Chance’s newly-tattooed bicep.
Chance grinned at her. “What, I wasn’t before?”
“No, you were and you know it,” Carmen winked in response.
I crossed my arms, and Greg nudged me, giving me a gleeful look. “What?” I asked suspiciously.
In response, he showed me something that he had snuck into his shirt: some of the experimental tattoo paint, an awful fuchsia colour.
“What’s that for?” I demanded, alarmed.
Greg cracked an evil grin. “I think our Student Body President needs a bit of touch-up, don’t you think?” we looked towards an unsuspecting Ian who was trying to get out of his David Bowie wig which had gotten stuck in his class ring. “Maybe tattoo some campaign words on his forehead,” Greg snickered, and I sighed.
“Ian will be furious.”
“That’s the best part!”
I couldn’t help my answering grin as Greg attempted to look innocent as he slid by the tattoo artist, out of the store, still carrying the paint.
“Which store shall we hit first?” Chance asked enthusiastically once we were all out. The close-fitting cut-off shirt exposed his lean muscles, and I tried not to stare.
“Wherever you want.”
We ended up going to a Zellers where Chance proceeded to wreak havoc on their systems. Every time a cashier tried to scan something, Chance would walk innocently by, flashing his arm into the beeper. The whole system would go haywire.
He reduced one girl to tears, which he was extremely sorry for, and another one had a panic attack. Turned out she was new and thought she had shut down the system by accident.
I tried being subtle about recording it all, but eventually we had to run when we caught sight of security guards storming their way over. I hissed, trying to get Chance’s attention who was patiently waiting a turn to royally mess everyone up again in an aisle over.
“Chance!” I hissed. “Chance, we have to go!”
He didn’t hear me, instead cheerfully discussing weight loss methods with a pair of moms standing behind him.
I swear, that boy can talk about anything with anyone.
Marching over, I grabbed Chance by his newly-tattooed arm, making him yelp, and dragging him away just as the security guards located us. We booked it for the door and Chance ended up slamming into the glass door when the automatic doors didn’t open fast enough.
Everyone was already outside and was laughing at him, but he shrugged good-naturedly.
“Another one done!” he announced. “So guys, what do you think when you hear the words security guards?”
“RUN!” we all chorused.
“That’s right,” he cheerfully agreed, his back to the store while the rest of us faced him.
“No, Chance,” Lacy called urgently, “Run!”
“What?” he began, turning to look behind him at the five security guards standing there. “Oh, son of a--!” he yelled and raced after us.
I was really beginning to hope this wasn’t becoming a tradition.
Note from ella:
So last chapter was really strange... so this one's a bit more normal. Sorry it wasn't too funny, but Allie wouldn't have been able to handle something really epic so soon. Yes, she's talking to me in my head :( Anyways, please leave a comment? I love hearing your thoughts! Have an amazing day :)
