I nearly jumped out of my skin as suddenly someone started blaring at me and screaming my name. I paused on the sidewalk and looked at the road to see a familiar sports car. Ian rolled down the window, peering at me.

“C’mon, Allie!” he hollered frantically, loud enough for the entire neighbourhood to hear, “Get in!”

I jumped off the curb and broke a bunch of laws as I cut through two lanes of traffic, yanked open the car door, and threw myself in. People honked and yelled at us which Ian calmly ignored, just as he ignored me nearly landing on him.

“Smooth,” he commented sarcastically, and I scowled.

          “Thanks for the ride.”

“Yep,” he nodded, relaxing once we took a turn towards Lady Hope Catholic School.

The Beatles were playing Hey, Jude on his speakers, which I could tolerate. I’m not much of a Beatle fan, though.

“So, that was some day, yesterday, huh?” Ian eventually said.

I slid him a sour look. “I hereby disallow any references to that day.”

Ian rolled his eyes, smiling. “Maybe you and Chance should be the next ones to complete something,” he suggested.

I wasn’t too keen on the idea, much preferring that Greg and Lacy be the next ones. But I guess there was no use in putting it off.

“I suppose,” I muttered, slinking in my seat.

Ian slid a concerned glance at me. “Are you all right? You seemed upset when you were walking to school.”

“It’s nothing,” I mumbled, turning to stare out the window. He let it pass.

Ian was not a man of many words, which I liked. He and Lacy were always the quiet ones, but it was always comfortable around them.

We pulled up just as the bell was ringing, which meant that we didn’t have time to meet up with the others. I was sort of thankful, and yet sort of disappointed, which I couldn’t understand.

My first class was Chemistry, so I set off, parting ways with Ian. On the way there I caught a glimpse of Greg at his locker, surrounded by no less than eight bimbos. He seemed annoyed at something and three of the bimbos detached themselves, trotting off to bring him coffee and breakfast before class.

I shook my head in disapproval; he was completely shameless in using them, but at the same time it was really embarrassing, sharing a gender with them.

The day seemed to fly by unapologetically, since I was dreading meeting up with the others and being informed of my impending humiliation. Whenever you’re dreading something, time grows wings; when you’re looking forwards to something, however, it suddenly becomes slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter.

“Allie,” Carmen cooed, getting up to hug me once I reluctantly dragged myself over to our table in the courtyard. I narrowed my eyes at her; she was too happy about seeing me.

“Stunner,” Chance grinned at me, sitting beside Lacy and stealing half her orange. She smacked him, but let it pass.

So, he was back to calling me Stunner.
