Frozen in Time

You are forever frozen in time.
I last saw you at 23.
I will never see you again in person, over phone calls, or on social media posts.
I imagine a future for you where you laugh so much you develop lines around your eyes.
I pretend there's a future where I still tell you I love your nose,
(I don't believe you when you say it's too large),
as it will never stop growing as you grow in age.
Time doesn't stop for you.
You're going to continue with it,
on the same timeline parallel to mine.
In 50 years I wouldn't recognize you,
your eyes and fingerprints will be the only thing that never changed.
Everyday you're getting older, wiser, better.
And I ache knowing I'll never get to see it.
