Charlotte stood in the kitchen, talking to a girl that she knew from the class her and Rutger had together. The boy wasn't far away from her, talking with a guy from the football team just a few feet away. " So are you and Rutger like, dating?", the girl asked, Charlotte shaking her head no. " Oh sorry, I just assumed since you guys always come to class together and stuff like that",
" No I get it. But no we aren't, just good friends", Charlotte smiled. It almost hurt her to say that, but that's exactly what they were. The girl nodded and smiled, wandering off to talk with some of her other friends. Charlotte looked around, trying to find someone to talk to as she opened another drink.
" Hey, Charlotte", Frank smiled, giving the girl a nod as she grabbed a drink from the fridge. The two never really talked, but he always said hi to her. Charlotte said hi, learning that he had a girlfriend. It made sense, since Frank was a really nice guy. " This is my girlfriend, Bella. Have you guys met?",
They both shook their heads, Frank leaving them to talk. Charlotte learned that she was a really cool person, the two hitting it off. " So clearly you have something with Rutger? He's such a good guy, I always see him when I go over to franks",
" No we're just friends. You're like, the fourth person to ask me that tonight", Charlotte laughed, feeling a bit awkward.
" I didn't mean it like that, I just know that he cares about you. Who knew he would wear a chef costume, I never thought I'd see the day", Bella smiled, her light brown hair getting in her face. " You should come to their apartment more, I'm always there", she suggested.
" Sure, I'll mention that to Rut", Charlotte smiled. Eventually Bella left to find Frank, Rutger making his way over to the girl. " Franks girlfriend just told me to come to your guys apartment more",
" You should, come whenever you want", he smiled, the girl rolling her eyes. " Seriously though, you should. You guys would be good friends I think, she's always over", Charlotte nodded, her head starting to pound slightly. She hadn't realized how many drinks she'd had until she saw all the cans in front of her, Rutger looking at them as well. " Want me to walk you home?",
" I can go myself, I don't want to pull you from your friends",
Rutger scoffed, " I'm not letting you walk home alone. Plus, I'd rather walk with you than hangout here", he said. He seemed to rather hangout with her than do a lot of stuff. " Come on, let's go",
Charlotte followed the boy out of the house, linking arms with him as they walked to her apartment. It was about a 10 minute walk, which she was glad, since it was starting to get colder in Michigan. Rutger told her about something from hockey, since she always listens to him talk about whatever. " Well, see you", he said, stopping in front of her door.
She wanted to tell him to come up with her, to spend the night with her, doing whatever it is that he wanted to do. But she didn't, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek and mumbling a bye as she went inside.
