To be calm

To be calm

to me is the wind and the breeze

The hairs of the tree flowing above my knees

To hear the ocean in the shell

And see the landscape of the beach so well

Sand squeezed in between the toes

Relaxed muscles free from tension and foes

To be calm

to me is not always being busy

But accepting to blend with nature and also friendly

To hear the wind hushing along

To speak not lowly with others but a soft song

To be calm

to me is forgiving, and accepting ourselves

And admitting "Oh, we're human"

Being what we want to see in the world

To be calm

to me is the splash of cool water on my face

Waking up in the morning and hoping for no disgrace

Cozy with a cup of hot chocolate

Or maybe a Popsicle that will stop the sweat

Cloudlike expressions when reading novels

And hopeful eyes that automatically cross fingers

To be calm?

What is it to you?
