"How'd your date go?" Max asks, nudging me.

"Madison was at the same restaurant as us and she came over to speak to me about puppies." I say.

"How'd that go?" Max asks, chuckling.

"I told her that I volunteer here once a week." I say.

"And she believed that?" Max asks.

"Yeah." I say.

"She's either blinded by how hot you are or her feelings for you." Max says.

"You think I'm hot?" I ask.

"Hot and musty." Max says.

I laugh and Max smiles.

"There's pup who needs her shots in room 2." David says walking in.

"I'll do it." I say.

David hands me a tray with 2 syringes and I walk down the hall.

I open the room door and see Hailee. Hailee looks up and smiles.

"Are you stalking me?" I ask, shutting the door.

Hailee laughs and I smile.

"What are the odds that you work at the same vet that I take Tini to?" Hailee asks.

"I didn't even know you had a dog." I say.

"She's so small, people usually don't see her." Hailee says.

I laugh and she smiles.

"She been eating okay? No vomiting?" I ask as I put my gloves on.

"She's been okay." Hailee says.

I nod and grab the needle.

"You think she'll give me a hard time?" I ask.

"I dunno, she's bipolar." Hailee says.

I laugh and she smiles.

I lift Tini's hair and gently pinch her skin. I give her the shot and put the syringe back on the tray. I grab the other syringe and give her the shot.

"Took it like a champ." I say putting the syringe back down.

"Couldn't be me." Hailee says, and I throw my gloves away.

I laugh and smile. I give Tini a treat and rub her back.

"I'm surprised they let a volunteer give shots." Hailee says.

"Well, I went to vet school and graduated, I just picked a different path." I say.

"Oh." Hailee says.

"Are you gonna be free tonight?" She asks.

"No, I promised my mom I'd come over and make her dinner." I say.

"Oh, you know how to cook?" She asks.

"Something like that." I say.

"You should cook me dinner one night." She says.

"Okay, sure." I say.

"How about tomorrow night at your place?" She asks.

"My place?" I ask.

"Mhm." She says.

"Uh, okay. I'll text you." I say.

She smiles and nods. She picks Tini up and kisses me on the cheek. She walks out and I grab the tray. I walk out and go down the hall.

"Was that-" Max asks.

"Yes." I say.

"How'd that go?" Max asks.
